At first, it felt like the sub plots and other characters would get interesting eventually but it never happened. But the saving grace of the show was the character of Han Gyul portrayed excellently by Gong Yoo. I have no problems with the actress who played Eun Chan but I just didn't like her character. She seemed innocent and adorable in the beginning but turned downright selfish after that. However, when does admit she was wrong for lying to the Han Gyul, I appreciated her in that moment. But after the revelation of her being a girl to him, the story became boring. I felt like there was nothing left in it after that. Their relationship kind of became lackluster for my taste. I only enjoyed the homosexual angle of their relationship and that too got dragged unnecessarily.
I don't feel like it was a well written show. The characterizations were also lazy. Only good direction and great performances by the cast makes a practically terrible show into an almost very good one. Apart from the main lead pair, I didn't care for anyone. But they have some very strong emotional moments.I felt like Yoo Joo's character was underused and they kind of made her annoying by the end. Min Yeop provided with hilarity and I kind of found his acts cute.
And I don't know what to make of the rest of the show or even its ending. There is hardly anything there for me to say about it.

At the beginning I thought I won't like the ending because I knew Eun Chan will leave at the end for two years.(I knew it because of the episode review.) But they played it out well - and eventually it's rather good thing because two years is enough time to prove their love to each other.
An amusing drama and I recommend anyone to watch it, who likes loveable, cute and funny romantic comedies.
I gave this drama 9 points because - it really was good, but I prefer that feeling in the end,- when I cry my eyes out because everything is just too messy and I have no idea how they will reach the happy ending.
This time it was too anticipating, so it didn't give me the feeling of surprising solution for the end.
And some questions arose.
What happens to Eun Chan's mom and the butcher's shop man ? Will they marry?
The story about some side characters seemed to stay a bit half for me..
On the other hand, I don't feel that something big is missing due to that.
Anyway, I'd still watch it :P
:) :) :)

Interesting premise but slow pacing
I have to say I watched this 12 years after it was first released so I'm comparing this drama to all the good dramas that have come out in the recent years.I was really excited to watch this drama because of the hype. Everyone was giving it 10/10 which made me want to watch it even more. The first few episodes had so much potential. I was laughing and was very intrigued but to my disappointment, it only lasted for the first few episodes. The pacing is way too slow. They showed unnecessary scenes to fill out the episodes.
There was so much angst between the main leads. The male lead was a jerk. He was treating her like a piece of trash. That's not how you treat someone that you like. But still she liked him. If I was her, I would have dumped him. She was still very patient with him.
I would shorten the episodes to have a better pacing. I couldn't finish it. Just very boring.

For me it didn’t seem dragged out or as if they added random events just to make it longer. It was a perfect and very funny drama that you’ll love.
Music: Just like Antique Bakery the music here is classical and beautiful. Nothing over done or exaggerated. It all sets the mood perfectly.
Cast/Acting: Everyone was brilliant. Especially Yoon Eun Hye who looked and acted just like a boy. As for the other actors, nothing felt forced, exaggerated or over the top. I have no complaints.
Lee Un, who played Min Yeop, was great. His character was funny and sincere, just like his acting. May he rest in peace.

Sun-Ki is SOOOOOO FINEEEEEE <3
I really loved this one, even though I usually drop romantic shows after they get together. For some reason I could actually sit and watch this, there were definitely cringe scenes but not a lot that I had to take a break from the show. I do love romance but if it's too much I'll drop it.I thought the story was pretty good though. I love stories like this, a little risky, a little fun, a little bit of this and that. I just love the girl-pretends-to-be-a-guy story so bad. There were just some weird innuendos though, that caught me off guard. For example, all the foot shots (I just don't like feet). There were a few other scenes I'm failing to remember but SOOOO many foot shots. Also what parent allowed their kid to show their butt like that. That caught me so off guard. Yeah it was the 2000's but we got to be careful of our children. It would've been nice if they gave more on the Kokum though, saying a bit more about her health cause after the wedding of Yoo-Joo and Han-Sung, it looked like she wasn't gonna last but I think that was more personal for me.
The acting and cast were perfect. Obviously, I do NOT support Gong yoo like at all but I found a place to finally watch this show and did. Maybe it was just me but I think Han kyul also could've looked like he loved her more. I think Miss queen did amazing, I saw she loved him but it was a bit...different for him. That may also be personal because of his track record.
To continue, I really didn't love the traditional roles in it like SAVE MY GIRLS cause that was scary. It kinda, maybe really screamed insecurity on the males part because wdym you wanna control them. If you want to be a housewife, no problem with it but they clearly had different things for their life.
Although it was sad the baby was lost, I just think Han-Sung was a bit much. As I saw it, I don't think they matched well, they brought up their past's too much, that it was a little awkward. I just think even though they did love each other, they should've gone another way. They both needed to heal and forgive each other from past mistakes or mishaps. I also wanted to understand why Yoo-Joo was doing all that, at the start of the show because why would she lead Han kyul on? That's really all I have to say for her, maybe they cleared it up in that one episode, when he talked about how he just liked her because it was a habit, I can understand it but it's probably just morals on my part.
Again, I'm glad Eun-Chan got to do what she wanted and not what he wanted. Her whole life was doing things for others and not for herself. It was very well deserved. Too bad they weren't understanding about her situation when they found out she's a girl. I loved her character and I was cheering for all the girls on the show. I wanted to see her mom marry because Mr. Butcher (I forgot his name) was cute and together they were just perfect.
I'm not someone who rewatches shows but again, I could sit through this one and enjoy it. There were some parts I did have to break down but there was something in the air about this one.
Lastly, Sun-Ki fine ahhh man fr. Like come ONNNNN, they were all very gorgeous but there's a special place. (MIn-Yeop did seem pretty old for Eun-Chans sister though. Brodi look 24, I couldn't see him younger than that so it was pretty weird)

Incredibly Charming
It's seriously one of the best kdramas I've watched. I am picky to how I rate kdramas, but this one is an easy 10/10. The characters are so likeable and funny, the way everything was executed just makes it seem so natural and lively while also keeping the kdrama cliche feel as well. The drama and arguments weren't dragged on for too long, making it easier to watch for me than other romance kdramas. I loved the tomboy girl, Koh Eunchan, and how hardworking and positive she was despite her situation. And Choi Hangyeol had character development thanks to her, which made him even more likable than he was at the start. Their interactions were so adorable, I loved every second or this. I strongly recommend. Was this review helpful to you?
Spectacular give me 14 of them right now
Amazing how Coffee Prince, as a drama from 2007, was so ahead of its time. You often see the classic "girl gets mistaken for a guy" trope in dramas, but it’s usually played for laughs, or the male lead finds out early enough to avoid any deeper complications. Not in Coffee Prince. You actually see Han Gyul’s feelings develop before he knows Eun Chan’s real gender. You watch him wrestle with the possibility that he might be falling in love with a man.
Hangyul, a 20-something irresponsible and charming "playboy" almost, finds himself swayed by this younger, short, scrappy and clumsy "guy" who works for him. Watching his internal breakdowns — the confusion, denial, frustration, and eventual acceptance — is honestly one of the most compelling character arcs I’ve seen in a K-drama. It's really done with sincerity and not for the sake of comedic misunderstandings which for me, I don't know how to tell you, was a breath of really fresh fucking air.
Yoon Eunhye, who plays Eunchan, actually makes the disguise believable. And not because she might really look like guy, but with her body language, mannerisms and the way she carries herself, even the outfits were a great choice if you ask me. Like, in the drama, I got why people mistook her for a guy(can't say the same thing about you're beautiful).
Even the supporting characters have depth. Most of the time they're comedic relief, yes, but each one gets their own little moment. The second lead couple does lean more into melodrama and gave me a whole bunch of unnecessary headaches but even then, there's something realistic about their struggles. Especially them two, felt really human.
All in all, coffee prince just feels real. The writing trusts the audience to to sit with the discomfort and ambiguity. It doesn't back away from complexity, which again makes me amazed by the fact this was released in 2007. I wasn't even born then haha
This is one of my favorite dramas of all time and it's one of those rare ones where I could genuinely appreciate at least one thing about every single(and i mean every single) character. It still holds up beautifully and its emotional honesty is something I almost never see nowadays in modern shows.

Still holds up in 2022
First: I avoided this for a really long time because I was scared of the story being homophobic. A lot of popular kdramas can be a little homophobic, Vincenzo(2021) for example has multiple unnecessary low-key homophobic scenes. So, I was very scared about watching it since it was made in 2007. But it is not homophobic at all! I am amazed and delighted that they made something that doesn't make fun of anybody. Also, my respect for Gong Yoo has now reached Mt. Everest levels. He did this show when he was just starting, and it must have been such a risky show in 2007- it is a risky show even in 2022. Amazed how it stands the test of time. There are actual BL shows which have more homophobic/transphobic scenes than this one. I have written this simply for other people like me who are avoiding this show- you don't need to!Second: Ofc one needs to suspend belief to swallow the premise, but Yoon EunHye is somehow believable as a guy! Except for her lack of facial hair, she nailed it. She really gave her all to this show. (In comparison, Park BoYoung in "Strong Woman Do Bong Soon" is not at all believable as a weightlifter. She is thin, and I was constantly distracted by how many layers they dressed her in sometimes to make her look bulky. her mannerisms, nothing matched the character. I quit that show since it was so ridiculous to me that we were supposed to pretend that guys didn't like this thin, pretty girl lol.) Yoon EunHye did amazing here, didn't care at all about looking pretty/beauty standards. Really great actress. (Also great makeup artists, whoever dressed her character, etc. Did a great job.)
Third: The show is really funny. The plot is actually engaging and every character pulls their weight. It is slow paced but no more than a typical Kdrama show. I usually skip the second couple, so I skipped a lot of scenes here as well. One reviewer warned about not eating while watching this- 100% agree. Some of the scenes are just revolting lol. It does get boring after ep12 though, because once the secret is out, there isn't a lot to the story. Honestly, they could have wrapped it up by ep13. But till ep11 at least, it is a great show.

Be ready to fall in love with an ahjussi ?
This is really an old buy Gold series, from episode 1 to 16 I wasn't disappointed at all ,all through I just had a heart that couldn't stop beating from love ( ◜‿◝ )♡Personally I've been wishing I'm the girl inside there to be the one he loves, when I watched the first kdrama of him (Goblin) I just had a crush that's all but when I watched this I was in love his acting was 100% , emotions 1000000% , I had to check my gender again cos even the girl was making me fall in love, and that was literally my first drama of her, and she didn't disappoint ( ◜‿◝ )♡ Even the second leads made the drama more spicy and suspenseful ⊙﹏⊙ but I moved through it cause in a drama he can't be the only one fighting for her there have to be the handsome (oops (・∀・)) second lead . Jeez I know it sounds like I'm hyping this drama up but just honestly watch it and if u didn't like, dislike my comment but if u do please leave a like on my comment.
Thank you for reading, also u're welcome if u enjoyed it
P.S Xo_Xo ( ꈍᴗꈍ)
