The storyline would be good, if Yu Shu Xin wasn’t playing the main girl, I don’t know if it’s the way her character is written but she’s childish and annoying as hell, in the way shes trying to pretend to be more stupid than she actually is I don’t really understand the logic there, and why the screenwriters would come up with something like that. I couldn't finish watching Fairy and the Devil for this exact reason, because her acting was just the same in that too. I’m not certain if that’s the only ways she can act or if she’s always given parts like this but so far what I’ve seen from her she’s only able to play this kind of role, the silly, whiny little girl who’s always acting cute, regardless her old age, it may sound sour of me saying all this, but I don’t think she should be acting if she can’t be versatile regarding her emotions. A good example of this is Raba, she’s great at being cute and not in a cringy way, but also able to play in a strong stoic warrior, or even go as far as to pretend to be a boy. She’s never the same by the end of each series, her character development is always massive, and I don’t only mean this by her getting scripts with roles where she’s got great character developments in the end. But in the way she plays each roles different by the end. While with Yu Shu Xin I don’t see this at all, I’m fact she never changes. Her character always stuck in that naive, childish way, even if her character is supposed to be going through something tragic, such as when she was playing in Fairy and the Devil, her characters doesn’t come though genuine when she’s trying to be stoic to me, for some reason.

On the other hand, Vin Zhang is an amazing actor, and as I said the story would’ve been great to watch if the female lead was played by someone else.

This drama should have been a great drama

I feel like this drama used to have sweet and cute couple, beautiful and warm scenery that can make this drama really good.

But, the storyline was a mess. I like Xinxin and Binbin, and I think their chemistry is really loveable, but the storyline between them has no direction. In the beginning, FL planned to pursue ML for revenge, but along the way his behavior was not like someone who wanted revenge, but because she really loved him.

The second couple is a big mess. How could that guy possibly be a CEO with such behavior? And why did they style it that way, I couldn't find the CEO aura. The CEO falls in love with the village girl, should be a good match too! But the storyline is a mess. The way he pursued the girl was very stupid, in my opinion. And how come the girl doesn't know her best friend company?

Even though the storyline is a mess, I can still watch it because I love the interaction between Xiao Mei and Zhuang Yu, and the beautiful scenery about plants and animals. Oh I love their chemistry, I hope Xinxin and Binbin can do another drama together with a better script!

I'VE WATCHED BETTER BY BOTH ACTORS.

After Love Between Fairy and Devil, this is somewhat of a disappointment in what we've seen Esther Yu do. Also Zhang Bin Bin has shown a much deeper capability in acting compared to this. Their OST, however, is cute and my first time hearing Bin Bin's voice. It's really super sweet with great vibrato.

All in all, it's a cutesy drama and a sweet little love story. I still adore Esther and her cute little face, and Zhang Bin Bin has far too many great dramas under his belt to let this fluff piece ruin his rep. It's all good.

FYI: This is a warning to other actors who do back to back dramas. If one is excellent, the next one had better be too or it puts a wrench in showing the fans your skills. Esther, be more careful in your choice of drama next time, little one

Vin carried this drama and Esther was along for the ride

First let me say, I didn't have a problem with the 2nd ML/FL, usually the characters provided an opposing view of the main ML/FL relationship. It wasn't that they had more screen time, their screen time was utilized to move their relationship forward, when this didn't occur with the mail ML/GL.
I would have rated this drama higher if, A. The ML/FL relationship wasn't dragged out exhausting. Also, Esther's character didn't develop mentally, it is almost like she digressed after episode 29 or 30. She is supposed to be a professor who experiences a serious hiccup in a relation, but still running around whining, WHY?!?!. Vin character became more open and warm, but this series could have been wrapped up in 25-29 episodes. The OST were fine, not spectacular, but when with the mood of the storyline.

The 2nd ML/FL had a much more marture relationship and probably could have been a separate drama.

Maybe C-dramas will get to the point where characters show up in one drama only for their full stortlines to playout in a standalone drama.

Lastly, this drama didnt require the "interference girl" it served on real purpose to the post.

All in all, it is an enjoyable drama and one of the better I've watched this year.

Couldn't stand it

I started watching it because of the rating, reviews and I had liked Moonlight, so I figured I can watch another show with Esther Yu in it. I couldn't stand it. What's up with the whole baby talk all the time. It was unbearable and annoying. Esther made everyone else's acting look better just by being there in the frame and that's how bad it was. I dropped it and decided reality show drama is much better than this.

More nerd make leads please?

Simple cute fluffy romance
You can never get enough of such.
Solid acting
A difference from the usual bossy overbearing harrassing male lead with power dynamics to the female.
Breathe of fresh air for a charming guy though aloof that actually is portrayed like a gentleman
And a smart female lead playing dumb so as to get revenge on the guy who once rejected her.
More of a binging show so i advice to wait till its done, unfortunately for me.
But i will be seated as it updates

Love this drama

I am enjoying this drama so far especially because of the ML and FL acting and chemistry. I like the storyline and how they both bring the screen to real life… I love FL adorable presents…. I can easy follow the character and story buildup compared to other dramas… looking forward to more of this adorable couples story as they fall in love… I am also enjoying the funny 😆 moments

The FL and ML are a perfect couple. The ML will warm up and fall head over heals with the FL. He is just inexperienced and only know science until the FL opens his heart.

Also, like the 2nd couple as well so far…

I love Zhang Binbin but this drama is not for me. The FL makes me cringe...

I came to love Zhang Binbin through Song of the Moon which this was the drama I just finished watching and I love his acting in that drama (Song of the Moon), so I thought I might give this drama "A romance of the little forest" a go because Zhang Binbin is in this one too.

To be honest, I really tried to give this drama a chance. I stopped and get back into it and stopped again and got back into it, but it just didn't have that same magnetic pull that I felt when I watched Song of the Moon.

I mean I am into romance genres and an online friend recommended this drama to me saying it is similar to You are my Glory, while I do see the similarities but I cannot stand the Female Lead in this drama...

The Female lead Yu Mei Ren (played by Esther) is too much an off-putting for me.... She is so superficial and exaggerates that made me facepalm when she's on the screen... Like I really just want her to be herself and let him see the real her. The real and honest her...

The way how she acts "cute" in front of him is not cute to me but instead, that just makes it off putting...

Honestly, while a pairing chemistry is subjective from people to people on how they feel about the pairing, but for me, from the episodes I've seen I don't see the chemistry between them. It just felt awkward to me and I didn't like that she lied to her parents and said that Zhuang Yu(played by Zhang Binbin) is her boyfriend when they are not... and their parents is too annoying too with how they tried to pry into someone privacy even when it was just a guess that the mother thought Zhaung Yu is their daughter "boyfriend" when he is not yet....

Anyways I don't think I will continue it..I want to write a review about my honest opinions. Such a shame because I thought I might like this one also.... I keep putting it on hold so I know this drama isn't the one for me... Oh well..... Time to watch some other dramas that is worth my time.

Once again I love Zhang Binbin but Esther role in her character is really off putting for me so can't stick to it... It is to the point that made me cringe at her character (omg)

Watched 2 episodes and dropping it

It is way too boring. I really like the actress in Love Between Devil and Fairy so it's not her. There is just no chemistry between them or else it's due to the plot and writing. Was looking for a good modern drama and unfortunately this turned out to be a disappointment.

The name of the series is great. Very enchanting name and they definitely had the talent. But somehow just no chemistry anywhere.

Could not go beyond episode 2 before I just gave up.

Argh... why does reviews have to 500 words or more. Just ridiculous. Anyways, I guess I could talk more about the characters. I did not feel attraction to any of the characters. The main female lead, she played the same type of character as other shows she's been in. Nothing terribly bad or anything. Just pacing and plot was very weak and same with dialogues.

Typical Cliche scenario

I tend to give dramas a chance (One episode) then decide to watch or drop it ... unfortunately "A Romance of the Little Forest"
didn't pass that chance; this story isn't for me

<< through the whole 1st Ep I was checking how many minutes left .. and that's not a good thing!
I gave it another chance for Esther and watched the 2nd episode .. skipped some parts; didn't grab my attention!

Don't hate me for being critical!
In my opinion It's a cheesy story,, the Idea of approaching someone who called U idiot and rejected you is annoying by itself + the cringe cuteness of Yu Meiren's character is annoying .. seriously that can't be the personality of someone with a PhD certificate!
I accepted her cuteness as XLH in CLJ because it really suited the role and didn't feel cringe, it was normal.. in fact I liked her but NOT in this role!

Also the ML has no Charisma around him IDK what she saw in him he looks like a boring geek ( i am talking about the character!) + he is so full of himself ... talking like he could save the world! ugh

if they end up together (which I know they would) it will be the stupidest thing , generally speaking.. she should have respect for herself and just move-on find someone better!

I feel that it'll be the Typical Cliche scenario, she tries to take revenge by fooling him to fall for her; then ends up falling for him herself ... if you are into these kind of plots, give it a chance and judge for yourself!

This plot isn't entertaining for me .. I'm sick of this kind of stupid revenge .. reminded me of a trashy thai drama I regret watching .. however I'm sure this will be better than that one but not for me ..

thanks for passing by ;)

Não me incomodou.
Vale a pena assistir.
