Was this review helpful to you?
Cute Romance
The perfect romance that makes you want to giggle and kick your feet as you watch a pair of 亲梅竹马 (childhood sweethearts) and their romance as they grow up. There's nothing difficult to grasp in this cdrama, and it's perfect if you want some brainless binging. There's amazing chemistry and zero misunderstandings (which is so rare for a cdrama), but I personally found it a little lacking in terms of the plotline. However, it's definitely cute enough to make you want to rewatch it. One unique thing I really loved was the BTS at the end of each episode!I found it relatively similar to Sweet First Love, with its non-blood-sibling bond trope. It both contains cute banter as childhood sweethearts grow up, so if you enjoyed Sweet First Love, this is something that may interest you. One more point I'd like to mention is how they FINALLY made an older female main lead as the love interest, which might be a small point, but this, along with other points like the lack of misunderstandings, does combat a lot of stereotypes that I hate seeing in cdramas.

cute and steamy
This is one of those series that leave you completely satisfied with the ending, there is no "i need the epic conclusion!" because they give you everything wrapped up with a beautiful bow. I recommend this show for anyone who really wants a fluffy sweet romance that had some really steamy scenes.I loved the buildup of the main characters relationship, it wasn't a instant "kapow" but a sweet shift that really showed them growing up and understanding what they truly had with one another. The key ,I felt, was how good the chemistry was between the actors since it was in the subtle changes that you really felt them shift from childhood best friends to something more.
The love interests that was placed in this show, especially for the female lead, were well placed and really showed cute milestones that most teenagers go through. The adorable puppy love, with sweet little gifts and clumsy acts shows of affection that sometimes went completely over her head. Then figuring out how to know if you really like someone or admire them for being an amazing person. They were great characters, even if they were more so fluffy than complications that needed to be fixed.
I also feel they did an amazing job with portraying the "computer science prince charming" guy and how she did nothing wrong to encourage the behavior he showed. Though I do wish the female lead was able to knock him on his butt and give him a wakeup call.

truly the hype!
i was looking for a series which won't stress me out as a break and this is the type of drama I'd watch while i eat, it's not too heavy and a lot of funny scenes.aside from the comical side characters, the acting from FL and ML are really good!! i really love their chemistry as their characters, the only thing i don't like is the FL could be acting as a red flag sometimes and it made me feel bad for the ML. it's nothing much though, still a very enjoyable drama, worth the hype! 10/10 overall rating

It was a fun watch
If youre looking for a fun and mindless romcom this absolutely works for you. Dont be expecting a masterpiece from here. The clichés are there, the misnderstandings, the cold ML and the cheerful FL, jealousy games, highschool classroom dramas, bicycling home, the rain scenes. Everything is there, but thats just chinese dramas for you.
Just wanted to throw out a word about Jun's acting. Its not as good as the rest of the cast. I would be a delulu carat to be saying that. He was visibly stiff and nervous in the start. His expressions didnt really have any life. It was like those snapchat bitmoji's faces. It was quite robotic. He delivered his lines well and his body language was really good too. But the eyes were just dead and the face was just frozen.
BUT. BUT. BUT.
It improved as the episodes progressed. I guess he got used to the camera and learnt how to modify his acting ig. His face started melting (lol) and his eyes were significantly more expressive than in the start. He actually seemed like a typical cdrama rookie actor. So hold onto your wigs and bear with it for a while please. It will get better i promise

Short Lighthearted Full of Fluff
Destined from the start, that is how I would describe LC and XT's story. They are fated to be together from the moment they were born, thanks to their parents. The two moms and LC dad are like members of the CP fan club lols. I love the fact that XTs dad attempted to be a spoilsport and disagree with the inevitable marriage of his godson and daughter it was funny and heartwarming to know that she will be alays daddy's girl.Couple of stuff that I like:
Female bestie and Deskmate CP is cute. Although I understand the break up, LDR and lack of communinacation is a like a bomb ready to explode anytime. Love and trust can't make LDR work. In this relarionship I just want to point out that she is level headed in her fangirling attitude, she does not own her idol and knows her idol has a private life. Kudos to the show for pointing out not all are obsessive fans. I like also her BFs supportive stance in her fangirl life, not all could accept this lifestyle.
FLs male bestie is admirable. Throughout the show there were instances that showed he also likes XT but maybe because he was busy living his life and he knows XT and LC are a couple he supressed his feelings and decided to be just friends. He placed a boundary acceptable to stay in the life of the main couple. I want to think he would rather stay friends than lose them in his life.
The parents - Awesome parents not too controlling which is rare in cdramaland.
Didn't like:
No need for that junior guy to attempt to meddle in the couple juat because he fell for her when he saved her
The girl classmate of LC who also liked him, she was annoying but she at least changed.
The osts fit the drama but not that memorable for me.
A good watch and can be rewatched when we need fluff in our lives ..❤️

Strongly recommend for anyone needing a light-hearted drama binge
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of acting, production, and humour. It was not perfect but I finished each episode with warm, fuzzy feelings - especially given the great epilogues!Rewatching it (focussing on the main leads) and now have a deeper appreciation of ML’s change when he realised he liked FL. I now see the nuances of the brother-sister dynamic transforming to a romantic one (and can sympathise with FL on how jarring it was!). Credits to the leads for making it believable and endearing with great acting and incredible chemistry.
My only wish was that they devoted more time when they were in uni and adulthood. The last half felt fast paced, with not enough time to unpack the very serious things they were going through - sexual harassment, online/workplace bullying, and even generally, the joy and pain of growing up and becoming an adult.
Nonetheless, I found it heartwarming and overall, a great watch. Will probably rewatch again and again to see what else I’ve missed.

Bland youth drama
Nothing literally nothing happens in the drama. Main leads as well as side characters are two dimensional. FL is as usual clueless of what she wants and ML has to help. Why almost all youth dramas have that! What i liked
Initial relationship between ML & FL was cute. There was no over the top sentiments .
What i disliked
After few episodes you realise there is literally nothing happening. Their daily life becomes boring .Side character stories are also annoying. Female side characters and Male side characters are all utterly one dimensional. Either evil or dumb or plain stupid. ML & FL has nothing much happening. Even with friendship it really doesnt look like you are part of their journey. THe feeling i get in some of the really good youth dramas.
Outright unrealistic reactions from almost all around them is just too much to handle.
After they start dating it becomes more stupid with random guys behind FL with outright stupid reactions. FL is supposed to be good at taekwando but ML has to come to rescue. WTH.
Oh yeah they introduce FL saying she joined the school bcs of Taekwando but there is no mention of that after that. She doesnt even think about it even once although other characters point out to belittle her. Everything is so half hearted in this drama. Ughh
Not to compare but another youth dram with same FL had a depth even with side characters so i would say that is much much better. Go watch that. ML & FL both has some arcs with side characters having a good story development.

Cute.
What I like:*The comedy. I burst out laughing to a lot of funny scenes which is good, it rarely happens to me.
*The story line. It is solid, believable, and cute a lot of times. I am glad they've removed the part of the book where the main ML made a huge step w/o the main FL's permission, it would have been a red flag.
*Yin Zihan. The only character and actor that stood out for me. I hope to see him in more dramas (hopefully lead roles) in the future.
*The parents. I like that they're so supportive of the main CP. Although, does it really happen in real life?
What I don't like:
*The acting. I'm so sorry but the acting in this drama is either bland or over the top, I won't comment on actors/actresses individual performance since I do understand that some of them are newbies and needs a lot of work. I would like to comment on the main FL's acting though since I saw her recently in WIFTY and she is really good there, I guess actor/actress performances also depend on the director of the drama.
*The sweet/sexy scenes. It doesn't feel natural, every move/scene feels scripted and I can see that the main Leads are not that comfortable with each other it just feels forced.
*The kiss scenes. I am not against too many kiss scene but in this drama, it was just to many unnecessary for me. I found myself rolling my eyes a few times. Haha.
*The music. I just finished the drama about 15min ago and I can't remember a single song.
Still I am giving this drama an overall solid 8 because of the comedic part, I really like the storyline, and Jun seems to be a very good kisser, I'll give him that. I just hope it was executed better.

a delight!!
exclusive fairytale is one of my first contemporary cdramas and I think?? the first one I've finished. I usually take forever to finish dramas but this one is very easy to watch, and I mean that in a good way -- the episodes never drag on too long, it's very funny, and there's enough characters that we get a good mix of story lines and drama. admittedly yes I'm a fan of svt and came into this drama for jun, but it took no time at all for me to fall in love with the rest of the castI'm honestly jealous of all of these characters for getting to have a friend like xiao tu lmao, I want to be friends with her too please ??? she was such a high point in this show, her personality and the comedy she brought, but also her relationships with the rest of the characters -- I love the progression she and xu linglong make over the course of the show, for instance. I also really enjoyed her friendships with jia siwen and yin zihan, it was very cute and it always made me smile. overall the friendships in this show were one of my favorite parts. like of course this is a romcom but the side characters really got to shine and leave their own marks, and having these friendship circles made them feel very well-rounded as characters. I think the writing was great in that aspect: I don't think the characters ever felt OOC to me, even ling chao and xiao tu after they got together and started being more cutesy
the romance was super fun, I loved a lot of the tropes they included. I really really liked the secondary ship too which doesn't always happen, so I'm grateful that it was such a cute couple and that they also got their happy ending. I would've cried if they didn't get back together tbh. I think the show did a good job portraying the reality of leaving high school and moving on to college, where some people go farther away and you either lose contact entirely or have a rough time keeping up with them. I did think it was silly they kept most of the same cast lmao but that's okay it was fun
I did knock off a few points bc there were times I thought the acting was a bit meh, and I have to say, it annoyed me to have so many temporary love interests. when the motorcycle guy came in with only a few episodes left, I just felt over it and wanted that part to be over asap. unfortunately after ling chao and xiao tu got together, I think the momentum fell a bit, but that was bound to happen. overall these complaints did little to really affect my enjoyment of the show
will definitely rewatch sometime!!
