Sadly worse that I expected but with some really nice scenes

Song Kang did not impress me as an actor here as in Love Alarm or Nevertheless. Even in Navillera, he had his charm. I think it's because he's young and they're making him even younger. He's great in serious moments...I enjoyed them. Even the funny ones can be good and then there are embarrassing scenes that don't suit him and he knows it and everyone can see it..or not and it just bothers me. And I didn't like his hairdresser and make-up artist. The main female character was better. She thought appropriately, rationally, and soberly. In my opinion, the last episode was unnecessary. No creativity in how he came to life. Or should they let him die..he wouldn't be the first or the last. The side characters were awkward. I don't like this very much, it takes away points from the series, and people's IQ has just decreased. Fortunately, there were also negative characters and they balanced it out a bit more. I was expecting some secret story about the demon's son, but nothing. I missed it. At least there was a secret contract with the young woman's father..:)

What a big disappointment

This feels like an ordeal, to be honest.

I only started getting hooked at episode 5 onwards; the beginning wasn't bad, but I thoroughly enjoyed episode 5 and 6 without watching it in double speed (which, btw, I have never watched so much of a show through double-speeding...). I wasn't as crazy about it as the rest, but the middle of the show was generally enjoyable and nice to be honest (episode 5-10).

Visually, the series is great. The leads look great - individually and together -, the styling is exquisite (oh, to have DDH styling...) and the sets/colors as well as the cinematography are stunning. I also liked the OST a lot, which offers ballads but also moody Pop (the title theme is pretty cool - even with the cursive singing lol).

The acting is alright. In my opinion, Song Kang lacks depth in his performance and definitely shines more in action scenes that are intense (I loved him in "Sweet Home" for example). But I don't think he has the subtle or eye acting down just yet. There are some actors out there who do that very nicely (for example just recently Jung Woo Sung, or also Namkoong Min and Ji Chang Wook). Maybe romance isn't his strength, i don't know. Though SK played the lovesick, goofy boyfriend very well. He was cute with his infatuation with DDH, I will admit.
I enjoyed Kim Yoo Jung's acting a lot, especially in emotional scenes (or also in episode 12 with the past life storyline). She also touched me in the last episode. Her acting in the beginning of episode 16 was quite moving, she made me shed a tear haha!
The other characters - didn't care for them. They were there to create drama - Jin "Star" (can't believe there was a weird attempt to redeem her somehow...) - or some were there for comedic relief - the office people or Noh Soo An.

The story is badly paced and boring. This should/could have been a 12-14 episode drama, but they dragged it out way too much. The episode 14 breakup was also unnecessary and didn't do the plot (or my viewing experience for that matter) any favor as episode 15 was boring and dragged. The last few minutes of the final episode also felt endless. It's like they had several scenes as the "last scene" and just put them all together, more and more scenes added - like stop, put an end to it.

I think overall, this drama was okay but I think it's a little overrated. The acting is so-so. the story is okay but not crazy - it's a cute show/fantasy rom-com for the vibes, but it's not as grand as people make it out to be. Which is okay, doesn't have to be.

Fire!!!

If a drama manages to evoke a range of emotions within me, it automatically earns a perfect score of 10 in my book. My admiration for actor Song Kang dates back to his performance in Navillera, and in this latest drama, his beauty truly captivates. The on-screen chemistry with actress Kim Yoo Jung adds an extra layer to the narrative.

The fantasy elements, the musical score, and the meticulously designed sets, especially his character's house, contribute to an overall amazing viewing experience. The ability of the drama to make me laugh, cry, and even feel moments of anger is precisely what I appreciate in this genre.

The climax of the story was exceptionally well-executed, leaving me eagerly anticipating a potential part 2. It feels like there's more to unfold, and I genuinely hope the creators consider expanding on this narrative.

Why do people like it so much?

Idk if its just me but I feel like this show is so cliché? It's like every other kdrama.

Maybe it's just because I don't like predictable shows but I feel like the plot had so much potential but they used it wrong, I mean you have a literal demon ml and a strong independent fl. Yet when the fl sees the ml there's a romance song playing in the background and it's all in slowmo💀 Why do these strong characters start acting so empty in the head when they see the ml?

Not the mention in ep 1 while she was getting chased, she stopped running? had an entire monologue? had a conversation with the ml and the guy still hadn't caught up to her? how on earth does that work. I could express more things I didn't like too but I think it's just how predictable this plot is that I don't like and the fact that the characters could have had so much more potential.

I also don't watch romance much but the romance shows I've liked the most are the ones more about the plot than the romance.

bog-standard story

I don’t feel very strongly about this drama. It’s average, it’s okay. Nevertheless, ;) here are a few points I want to say…

What I liked:
- Intriguing start -> The first few episodes were interesting. They grabbed my attention. After watching the teasers, it was clear, that I was interested and would definitely start this show. Mmh I was especially intriguing were the episodes from 1-6.
- I was in the mood for romance and loved how they slowly started to catch feelings for each other. It felt like Do Do Hee was always very in tune with her own feelings, which leads me to the next point
- The FL-> Do Do Hee. A very confident FL. Confident, yet very aware of her status and aware of her position in the world. She knew she was alone and stood up for herself. Her choices were understandable, and it was very easy to connect to her. I just really liked her character. At least for the first episodes. I mean they didn't really use the potential and kept her developing static.
- The Music -> Another drama with an OST that suits my taste. The music stood out and pushed the drama’s quality. Nice sounds and songs that flowed nicely with the story.
- Expensive production. The set and everything did not feel cheap. Everything looked expensive and well produced. I liked the costume design and everything.
- My Demon couple has breathtaking good visuals.
- Kim Yoo Jung!!!

What I disliked:
- The story progression after ep 6/7 -> the story progression after the main leads get together is always critical. For me personally the lovey-dovey scenes were too much. Maybe I can conclude from this, that I was not feeling the couple to begin with. If I love two characters, I love their together time as well. They’ve had so many of the dating-scenes in this drama, which were a bit boring to me. Or maybe it just sometimes feels like the writer/producers check these scenes of a checklist… Like for example: We now need two to three episodes of staring into each other’s eyes, cuddling, eating cake etc. to make the viewers happy and after that we are going to make them suffer. This is a formular for many kdramas. I’m not critiquing this formular. I know that many people like it and that it brings familiarity to the plate. But it was very bog-standard in this one and it felt like I was watching points being checked off a checklist. Not very nicely integrated into a flowing storyline. Doesn’t help that I wasn’t a fan of the chemistry. In german we would call it 0815.
- Murder/Killer Plotline:-> didn’t care for it. Was a bit boring.
- Past-Lovers Plotline: -> didn't care for it either. I don’t need lukewarm past-lover plotlines to deepen the relationship, if writers are not confident that the main storyline of their romance is enough to keep the viewers invested. If they include past-lovers, please do it in a new way or fully fleshed out.
- The recycling of scenes -> Rescuing and saving again and again
- The most standardized SML ever -> Just unnecessary love-triangle since he didn’t stand a chance anyway. Useless and boring as hell.
- Song Kang -> I feel like I need to be very careful with voicing my opinion on this matter since he has a lot of fans… but without any prejudice… I was not a 100% sold on his acting in this one. Especially his comedic timing was questionable. He had some comedic scenes that were supposed to be funny. But I just did not feel it. It all felt the same through the whole drama. But it’s not like I can’t stand his acting or anything. Just a sidenote: Song Kang is undeniably an incredible handsome man.
- The comedy -> This point goes in hand with the one before. I was just not a fan of the comedy. The way they edited it or maybe even produced it felt off. Humor is subjective and, in this drama, it wasn’t my taste. With Song Kang it seems like it was partly his comedic timing and partly how they staged it in general
- The Side-characters -> None were intriguing to me. Mostly boring and sometimes even… dare I say tacky? Looking at Park Bok Kyu and Shin Da Jeong. I’m not criticizing the actors and actresses. I think they are all very talented. Especially Seo Jung Yeon. It was just hard for me to connect to any of these characters.

In some cases, I don’t even mind over the top or tacky comedy. But it’s very subjective and hard for me to pinpoint why I like it in one drama and not the other. Maybe I just have a complicated and complex relationship to humor in TV series and Movies…
Lastly, I want to say that I am not searching for perfection in a drama. Not at all. I even know my favorite Dramas have flaws, but I am willing to accept and embrace them. In the end I need to be able to at least either connect with the characters or the plot must intrigue me. Sadly, this drama didn’t do that for me. My review is not supposed to be hateful in any way. I’m just trying to give reasoning for my rating. If you are wondering where this rating stands in my rating system:
9, 9.5, 10 : Personal Favourite / 8, 8.5: Great / 7, 7.5: Really Good/ 6, 6.5 Good/ 4.5, 5, 5.5: OK / 3, 3.5, 4: Bad/ 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5 : Horrible

The drama is not horrible but it isn’t very good either. Just OK in my opinion.

Gu Won is Pretty Do Hee's Perfect Demon!!!

I stayed up all night on the west coast to watch the 1st episode that aired at 6:30am PST!
Contain Spoiler!!!
When it comes to visuals I think this is Song Kang's best look in a K-Drama, his intro
scene was mind blowing with him walking in a long black hood cape (200 years ago) where he visited
a catholic place of worship, he placed his 5 fingers in a bowl of water to create flower petals then it formed
a stem of rose which he used to ignite his powers. After, the camera went closeup (4:34 mins) capturing a profile
shot of his head/face which was so beautiful and all I'm thinking if a devil can look so pretty I would
be fooled easily if I don't focus on his intentions lol. I was melting away in the early morning, The way his hair
was styled very textured with the hair dangled on his forehead which appear like a wet look, His under eyes had
a soft reddish look which made him look even more mysterious in a provocative and appealing way.
No other Demon character has outshined Song Kang as Gu Won!!!

Kim Yoo Jung looks very gorgeous as Do Do Hee and she fits the role as FL with Song Kang as ML.
Do Hee character is a rich girl princess like and she plays her role very well. I really could not get
enough of the beauty. So while it's fresh on my head I want to write a little review that this Drama
Series looks promising and the preview for Ep2 look like a lot of fun parts.

Jung Koo Won bargains with humans and at the 10 years deadline they die and go to a spiritual realm
then come back to work for him. On the same day in 2023, Jung Koo Won reserved a restaurant to eat alone,
Instead, Do Do Hee's adopted mother's fixed up a blind date for her that got mixed up with the restaurant
and that was how she met Gu Won. Later in the episode an incident happened where someone tried to
kill Do Do Hee and Gu Won was looking for his prey and went to save Do Do Hee from the attacker.
But first Do Do Hee need to make a deal with Gu Won. They both fell in the water escaping the attacker
where his powers were transferred to Do Hee under water. That was where Ep1 ended and will find out how
things will unfold for the beautiful Demon and pretty Do Hee. I hope Jung Koo Won gets back his powers lol.
It will be fun to see Gu Won powerless around Do Hee as well.

I couldn't help but notice the great quality of the editing and VFX so seamlessly done along with the beautiful
cinematography that captured the scenes beautifully and you can tell this was a very high budget Drama to make.

I recommend to give it a watch, you will laugh a lot too, the writer have come up with a strong theme, very original.
Like how can you make me sit and watch a beautiful demon drama? What I love about this drama, the writer makes
it very straight forward to follow, no entanglement and confusion. It is simply as that. I recommend to rewatch EP1
as it contained what the Demon did with the flowers and may have a part to play throughout the series.

I will update along the way ❤️‍🔥

After watching episode 9 & 10 only if I could rate it more than 10 out of 10!
SPOILER!!!
Gu Won regained his powers yippy!!!! I won't say which episode but it was MAGNIFICENT!!!
Gu Won is Do Hee's Perfect Demon! and this drama is my weekend therapy...❣️

My Demon is Sinfully Good

Just finished this delightful Kdrama. This story is good. It's got a great romantic storyline along with all the mystery, suspense, drama, and comedy all in the right spots. The actors are playing their roles well without too much over-the-top exaggeration. The two main leads are a feast for the eyes, and a tug on the heart as they take us through their romantic journey. The romance is wrapped up in a story of intrigue and mystery with the sudden death of the chaebol chairwoman, the suspense of Guwon's future as a demon (will he become human, or burst into flame to be nevermore?), the comedy of the FL and ML's assistants simultaneously flirting and detesting each other, the mystery of the homeless woman (how does she figure into all of this?), and the historical references of Guwon's past watching someone dancing with swords (who could that be, and what made him a demon?).

This is the type of Kdrama that keeps me watching more of them. The storyline was beautifully written, the subplots meshed well with the main plot, and all were wrapped up nicely for a great ending. The actors fit their roles, and fit nicely with the flow of the story. In fact the actors did so well with their roles, that I would get so caught up with the story, and before I knew it I was crying along, laughing along, scared, tense, and completely intrigued. The ending came too soon and I'd have to wait a week for the release of the next two episodes.

It was very well done, and I enjoyed it greatly. Well done to the everyone, actors, writers, producers, director, and the production staff!! This one just really came together in everyway.

Finally i have finished this....

This is my first review that i wrote, because this show made me do it. As the show got hyped soo much and got this rate(8.5). It's HUGE disappointment. If you are new to this type of shows, or if you like predictable, looping kinds of story with MEANINGLESS staring at each other with cringe scenes. This is for you. And i won't even talk how much is this show DRAGGED. Start was average, then when you go through the episodes it gets worse and worse. It felt like when i watched this, story was made by 14yo teenager.

I will LIVE for you. I will KILL for you. I will BURN for you. I will DIE for you.

"YOU ARE MY FATE THAT I CAN NOT DEFY"

If GOBLIN and DOOM AT YOUR SERVICE had a baby then its definitely gonna be *MY DEMON*.

TROPES
A stong and rich CEO female lead. A notorious demon male lead. Contractual/ marraige of convince. Bodyguard romance. Murder mystery. Chaebol conflict. Protect-her-at-any-cost vibes. Star crossed past lover conflict.

My demon is the epic romantic fantasy between a sly, mischievous demon and a strong minded young heiress.

THE CAST.
The chemistry between the main leads is just CHEMISTRY-ING. The eye contact, the visuals, the banter and lets not forget the TENSION between them keeps you on your toes. Song kang and Kim Yoo Jung not only have the visuals to please the eyes but the talent to literally make you feel the character. The character will literally make you SWOON, BLUSH, GIDDY , SHY, ANGRY, SAD and sometimes even CRY.
The antagonists of My Demon adding the TENSION and FEAR to the drama that needs to keep it engaging till the end. They have a way of making you annoyed and creeped out.

And let me have the honour to SCREAM IN BOLD- "SONG KANG IN THIS DRAMA SLAYED, HIS ACTING IS SOMETHING THAT IS THE LAST THING YOU WILL FOCUS ON."

And while we are at it, we need to talk about the excellent wardrobe and hair stylist. Like damn, they both look a million bucks. There outfit scream LUXURY and honestly suit them so well.

Romance. Mystery. Thriller. Comedy. Visuals. Cinematography. And a lot of MAGIC.
It is everything i think a kdrama has to have to make it ICONIC.

The cinematography makes it one of the most beautifully shot kdrama i have seen till date. The scene are shot so beautiful which will kinda give you nostalgic feeling of the time you watching goblin and Doom at yours service.
In short, MY DEMON is the kdrama that will give you everything you will want, and is a must watch. Definition one of the best kdrama this year.

Cliche but Enjoyable!

The story was a bit cliche and inspired from all the other supernatural dramas but it is definitely a enjoyable watch. The supernatural fantasy moments are good though. The editing and VFX does adds upto the pros for this drama

But I think the main selling point of this drama are the visual appeal of the leads !! OH MY GOD ! The chemistry between them is comfortable, natural and sizzling.
The cute interactions does make you smile.

SONG KANG was exceptional in this. I watched some behind the scenes of both Song Kang and Kim You Jung and loved it. I really liked how Kim You Jung was improvising while shooting and gently directly Song Kang as well.
The villian does give you creeps.

Though the story was nothing extraordinary but the acting and chemistry does make it a very enjoyable watch. I would definitely watch it again.

Overhyped

My friend's recommendation led me to this kdrama featuring Song Kang and Yoojung. Positive reviews fueled my anticipation.

Intro: Encountered the intro on TikTok multiple times—it's catchy but carries similar fantasy vibes as Goblin. Yet, nothing beats the Goblin intro.

Story: The plot feels oddly familiar, reminiscent of dramas like Goblin and Doom at Your Service. Prior exposure to the ending on Facebook, with Guwon's body disappearing, raised suspicions of replication from Goblin. The parallels between Kim Shin and Guwon's journeys are hard to ignore—the past lives' connections, saving people from accidents, beggar as the Diety/God and even the disappearing bodies.

The plot lacks coherence, leaving me puzzled about the inexplicable transfer of Guwon's tattoo to Dohee. No discernible meaning emerged. Guwon's indecisiveness about Dohee's marriage proposal felt erratic. It's an easy watch, suitable for newcomers. The final episodes seem hurried, rushing Guwon's return for a swift happy ending. Seuk-hoon's ascent to chairman pleased me, overcoming initial doubts from my Vincenzo-induced skepticism of brown permed guys.
