Dai Gao Zheng
I will shamelessly admit I watched this drama for the ML Dai Gao Zheng. Standing still with those smoldering, soulful gazes and his kissing scenes. He's simply gorgeous. The SML and the brother were easy on the eyes as well, but their characters were not appealing to me at all.Equally unappealing was the FL. Whether it was the way her character was written or her acting, it's hard to tell. There was very little chemistry between she and the sizzling ML. He carried all the intimate scenes on his own. After a while I wished I could have muted every time she said his name (which was almost the entire dialogue for Episode 22. The writers must have run out of lines for her). The character was silly and clueless and just plain blah, and she played it that way.
The story itself had promise, DGZ could have done a little more acting and the villain could have been a little more dimensional than he was. He was just so bitter I couldn't feel any pity for him. And the female character attached to the brother was kind of one-dimensional herself. Not interesting at all.
So... if you're looking for a riveting story with award-winning acting, this isn't it. However, the eye candy is well worth it, and there is a lot of that!

Honestly, I lived for this kind of story. tragic and heartbreaking, yet beautiful and heart warming. You didn't know how much I liked this kind of story. Call me phsyco but sick male lead made me want to lived for one more year
Even when the villain look forced but I can understand and still enjoyed all of the episodes without skiping scenes. The story is quite simple without too much unnecesary twist.
Acting,
Dai Gao Zheng, how can I survived with this now? What should I do? Sick male lead with dazzling look like you really made me wanna gouge my heart of and give it to Chong Yang. I think I fall in love with you, what should I do then? T,T
All of the actors do a really good job potraying each character. I love you all (But I love Dai Gao Zheng more sorry).

I don't really have any comment about the music. but I love the opening song.
Rewatch Value and Overall,
I like every camera movements, props, costumes, even I love Chong Yang's cape (all of them are really majestic). Thank you for all the people who take a part of this drama. You made such a beautiful work.
This is one of dramas that I will rewatch when I crave for tears.

A wastage of time
Love Beyond the Curse” was a drama I didn’t enjoy because of its dull storyline. It was boring and lacked depth. For the first time, I didn’t like Dai Gao Zheng’s acting—but it wasn’t his fault. The problem lay in the story and the character he played. I watched the drama only because of him—his acting skills, his dialogue delivery, and the emotions he expresses through his gestures and facial expressions. Very Short with simple story but a fun watch
I'll start by saying I do get immensely frustrated by short dramas especially where an episode is 12.45 minutes and 3-5 minutes of those are intro and extro so the actual story is only 7-9 minutes long so it does take the enjoyment off a little when watching.TLDR: Overall I do enjoy it and look forward to the next episodes being released and will likely albeit grumpily rematch it some day to spot things I missed
Setting: Fantasy world outside of our modern times.
Story: It's a simple enough premise. One person has longevity and craves release after watching too many people die and another has a short life span left and craves to live. They need each other to reach their goals. We have standard jealousy, betrayal, revenge and angry broody man falls for sweet cheerful girl then regrets wanting to die thing going but it is fun to watch and (at least for me) not predictable enough to take away from enjoyment
Acting: I thought everyone matched their roles well and will look them up in other work later.

The Many Views of an Attractive Torso
Come for the vampire, stay for the plot loosely stitched together purely by Dai Gao Zheng's handsome chest, which did its part admirably. Condolences to the FL for the writer skipping on her dialogue and forcing her to repeat the ML's name "Chong Yang" ad nauseum.Not much of a story, minimal budget, and haphazardly presented, but the OST and abs were good.

I added a full star for DGZ's torso. Such diligence in maintaining a fit body deserves acknowledgment.

Modern-day approach to Vampirism
I really loved this mini drama with a modern-day approach to Vampirism. The cast, although small, packs a decent acting punch. There is plenty of eye candy and mystery for a fantasy lover. The ML and FL have plenty of chemistry and charisma, drawing you into their roles.
The production is small and low budget, but the scenery and costumes are on par with the Chinese Republic era it is set in. So, I didn't mind that it was not a massive production. The use of CGI is smart and well done; it fits well with this mini drama.
The soundtrack is nice and soothing; it does not overpower the drama like some others.
The story as far as far as I know, is original and deserves to be told in this fantasy setting. The writers could have spent a little more time on the origin of the story, explaining more about the Eternal Night Clan and Flame Maidens.

worth to watch!!
Dai was great as a supernatural being, he finally played a different character than he's used to and it worked great! I was just disappointed that he didn't act more like a vampire... there could have been more action in that direction, more of him wanting blood - basically there was nothing in that direction. But the story is original, good chemistry, the ending is great - I expected it to turn out differently, so I'm satisfied and anyone who wants sexy Dai in a different version than before, I recommend it!Was this review helpful to you?
