The Virtuous Queen of Han

Mi Yue, daughter of King Wei of Chu, was the first stateswoman in the history of China. The drama details her turbulent life, as Mi Yue becomes a concubine, gets separated her from first love Huang Xie, is banished, and eventually rises to power as the first Empress Dowager in China’s history.

Both are historical dramas set in the palace harem that include romance and political intrigue. Also both dramas are about a young girl entering the palace and becoming the favorite of the emperor, having to deal with the jealousy and intrigue of the other women as a consequence.

Virtuous Queen of Han is like the next episode of the Han harem after Schemes of Beauty. Schemes of beauty ends with Wei Zifu entering the palace while Virtuous Queen of Han begins with the same.

The stories are similar due to its main characters and the historical aspect.

The female character are of low birth but end up falling in love and marrying the king or emperor and even though she encounter a lot of evil women who are also vying for the king or emperors favor she doesn’t let anything bring her down and remains true to herself.

The male characters are a king(Dong Yi) and an emperor( Queen of Han) who fall in love with women they shouldn’t love but do everything they can to keep them by their sides and protect them from other women in the harem.

Both stories are very good and have a few similar aspects but amongst the two Dong Yi is my favorite.

It is about a lowly singer becoming Empress of Han dynasty
it is a good drama for those who like historical dramas
