a suicide in school?
we are transported into a catcholic school where a horror flick with equally scary social issues in korea occuring.I have mixed feelings for wishing stairs, but overall was enjoyable and engaging, unlike that shithole that is voice. Throughout we follow and discover the mystery of what went down that day, how the 3 others start to hate each other as they are hunted by the ghost.
this film benefited from a short time span, it was well paced and made it engaging, anything longer would have had me bored out of my mind. Also the jumpscares were great and unexpected, just when it's about to slow down it comes at your way + the complimentary music.
one of the downfalls of the film is it's production, most of the important parts are full black and it didn't help that the site's quality is bad, we're they trying to make it more scarier? If that was the case, they failed miserably and causing viewers to unengange more than anything.
another thing I hated is too much annoying side characters, with no actual significance. some took too much screentime just to die, others had too much lines just to never appear in the film again. It didn't help that I wasn't familiar with any of the main characters so I was confused half of the time, spoiler, I had to take notes.
Eon Ju is the epitome of a friend, to have someone willing to die for you, would undoubtedly treasure her forever. Characters we're annoying and at times unrootable, but was expected since we're in a high school setting, overall potrayed well.
thought it was a satisfying ending and justice was served. at the last part it was poetic but also a statement to watchers, why suicide is a problem and how we do not know what one is going through, so it wouldn't hurt to be more kind and understanding.
This is me just nitpicking but that twist was at the very very very end was unnecessary, not needed, and no one asked for. the film despite its flaws, was entertaining and better than the whispering corridors that I've seen so far, if you like horror and the issues within teenagers it's highly recommended, also very timely even in modern korea or the world.

A Blood Pledge also has the weakest plot and motivations of the characters. I always felt like some of the Whispering Corridors movies at least try to tackle some more serious issues, but here the focus was on a random girl feeling insecure about the most unimportant issue, while the other characters truly have to deal with serious life problems.
Sure, the plot might have been a way to show how privileged the other girl was, and how blinded by her lack of real life experience she was, but it never felt this way.
The acting was one of the weakest from all Whispering Corridors movies. I guess Oh Yeon Seo did the best job, but even she was barely passable.
Overall, I honestly finished it only so I can move on to the newest installment.

PROMISE (BLOOD PLEDGE) IS BROKEN n SO R U READY FOR SOME HAUNTING ? Haha
Finally a Movie in this Franchise, where the Ghost's Death is due to Friendship. whereas in the other movies, Love is the reason behind the deaths!π€·π»ββοΈMovie Run Time is less, compared to other movies in this franchise n so PACING is RIGHT and GOOD here, without any content fillers, else would have been boring just like the first 3 movies π
Not a Psychological Horror, it's the Usual Horror Trope but with a lot of JUMP SCARES, horror lovers will love those ππ»π
n a lot of Girl LOUD SCREAMS π€¦π»ββοΈπ
****
Cinematography is different, the team had tried different lighting for different scenes, which is Good ππ»
But the Haunting Ghost scenes are completely black, almost invisible. Maybe they wanted to create a horror effect with the ghost in complete darkness n then give a jump scare to the viewerπ, unfortunately almost nothing is visible in those scenes.
I came to know that there is a ghost in such scenes, only when I hear a girl screaming loudly ππ
(On top of this, the print that I watched is of poor quality π€¦π»ββοΈ)
****
Direction is Good.
Linear Narration, so there is no confusion in the story or in the Editing (unlike the first 3 movies, where u'll go crazy confused or irritated with the Narration n editing π)
**** STORY:
Plot is Good n Interesting ππ»
4 High School Girls took a Blood Pledge to die one night but only one dies n so the Ghost takes Revenge on the other two n haunts the third one, who is her bestie.
First 1 hour of the movie, it's all about the Blame Game - blaming each other for the death of the gal.
The next 30 mins is when the true events that happened, unfold and the other gals' reasons for the pledge and their stories are shown.
This transition from the Blame Game to unfolding the actual reasons for the death of the gal n the other gals' stories, is VERY SMOOTH.
Well Written ππ»
Ghost to the three Girls: Our Promise (Blood pledge) is Broken n so be ready to my Haunting! π
Lesson learnt:
If U can't Fulfill Something, Don't PROMISE Anything!
And if U Promise Something, Don't Break it at any cost !! π€·π»ββοΈ
**** JUST SOME THOUGHTS:
1) Ghost killings in a religious place / Church, huh ? π€
It's a Catholic School setting here.
And one gal is killed by the ghost in church, in the end.
How can a ghost enter a religious place? (like shown in other horror movies, in general) ππ€·π»ββοΈ
2) Out of 4 girls who made the blood pledge in the beginning, 3 had very strong personal reasons to commit suicide but the gal (main lead) who turned into a ghost, doesn't have any strong motive or reason π€·π»ββοΈ
So in the end, her death (ghost's) has no meaning, no strong reason, apart from doing so for a friend!? π³π
Just like that!? π²
I say, She maybe a True n a Great Friend but still, a Move Without Any Thought!π
Or Should we rule this thought out as a Silly teenagers' mindset ? π€
She should have convinced her friend not to think of suicide, instead of she sacrificing herself for friend without any strong reason other than doing so for friendship n just to be with her close buddy even in death π€·π»ββοΈ
Again here we are dealing with teenagers' story, shouldn't expect much from the plot and the writers, I guess ππ€·π»ββοΈ
But for another gal character (who is bothered about ranks and master key of school), she is ready to fake her death, manipulate another friend into suicide and murder another friend, even though being a teenager π€·π»ββοΈ
Anyways, a GOOD HORROR WATCH ! ππ»

My Rating is 7.5 / 10
In this Franchise, Liked the First movie (my rating is 6.5) n this one Equally.
But gave an extra 1 rating here, just bcz of the Right Pacing here
n 1 rating less there, for wasted time n content filler there.
Story-wise, both are equally good and liked.
