This anthology love story is set in a lakeside hotel that was converted from a closed elementary school. During the pre-opening, which invites alumni and people with ties to the school, the characters arrive at various times with their families, friends, and partners. Some guests are staying with their significant other for the first time, some are reminiscing about their late wife, and some are reuniting with estranged childhood friends. The story follows the guests as they spend time in a place full of memories, and depicts the various forms of love.

Although the genres are different, the center of conflict in both dramas is the possession of the Hotel due to the death of the rightful owner. The dramas show the hard life of a true hotelier who leaves everything aside to serve guests, but mostly shows the dilemmas faced by main characters in their private lives as they struggle to the survival of the hotel and their happiness.

Both dramas are great makjang, complete with birth secrets, angst, murder plots, and revenge. One difference is Hotel King has more romance, but the revenge plot is still the driving force of the story.
