New Chinese historical drama The First Jasmine has confirmed its release date for June 9.
It tells the story of Ye Li, who was confined for eight years. By way of an imperial marriage decree issued by the Empress Dowager, she marries Prince Ding, Mo Xiu Yao, and is thereby able to leave.
Facing the decline of the Prince's household and her husband's despondency, she uses her intelligence to reorganize internal affairs, get to the bottom of the old cases, and continue treating Mo Xiu Yao's leg condition.
The two gradually move from mutual probing and suspicion to entrusting each other with their lives, joining forces to oppose the schemes of Empress Dowager Guo Jin, Marquis Mu Yang, and others.
At the same time, Ye Li secretly investigates and uncovers the truth behind the siege of Lishan Academy, while Mo Xiu Yao clears his family's name. In the end, the two stand hand in hand, walking toward a future that belongs to them.
The First Jasmine drama is adapted from Feng Qing's novel "Shengshi Difei".
The eldest daughter of the Ye family, Ye Li, marries into the Prince Ding's household and becomes the wife of the disabled Prince Ding, Mo Xiu Yao. On the same day that Ye Li is wed, Prince Li, Mo Jing Li, and the Ye family's second daughter, Ye Ying, also get married.
A descendant of Lishan, Ye Li was confined for eight years. After her marriage, she appears outwardly unaffected, but in reality, she secretly plans and acts, eliminating one by one the officials who were involved in harming Lishan in the past.
In the process, she is suspected by Prince Ding Mo Xiu Yao, who is also pursuing revenge. The two each exert their own influence, casting a massive stone into the seemingly calm waters and stirring up hidden turmoil.
Meanwhile, Prince Li Mo Jing Li secretly manipulates political currents and plots to usurp the throne. In the end, Ye Li joins forces with Mo Xiu Yao to assist the young emperor in seizing power, foil the successive conspiracies of Marquis Mu Yang and Prince Li, and restore peace and stability to the realm.
Bai Lu comes as Ye Li, Ryan Cheng as Mo Xiu Yao, Cai Zheng Jie as Mo Jing Li, Lin Mu Ran as Han Ming Xi, and Yang Shu Yi as Ye Ying, among others.
