Choo Young Woo shuns people to protect them from his ill fate in 'Head Over Heels'

Choo Young Woo endures ill fate in Head over Heels.

Head over Heels follows Park Seong Ah (Cho Yi Hyun), a high schooler by day and a shaman by night, as she tries to save Bae Gyeon Woo (Choo Young Woo), who is plagued by misfortune.

Born with a doomed fate, Bae Gyeon Woo sought the help of shamans to rid himself of misfortune, but all he received in return were scars. Therefore, he built an emotional fortress around himself to keep others from being swept away by the misfortune that constantly follows him. Instead, archery is the only escape that Bae Gyun Woo seeks in his unlucky life.

Choo Young Woo, who revealed that he is a fan of the original webtoon, explained his reason for choosing the project: "The script for Head over Heels was interesting, and I quickly became immersed in it. I also thought it was an opportunity to show a different side from the characters I've played in previous works." 

He described the character Bae Gyun Woo as "someone who has fought misfortune throughout his eighteen years of life, having a strong mentality as well as wounds from not being loved." He added, "Gyun Woo is like a sad hedgehog who raises his quills to protect others. Although he appears cold on the outside, he has a warm heart that hopes no one gets hurt because of the danger that surrounds him."

Head over Heels is coming June 23 on Prime Video.
