JTBC's upcoming weekend drama We Are All Trying Here has unveiled stills from its script reading session.
We Are All Trying Here follows the journey of Hwang Dong Man (Koo Kyo Hwan), who, being the only one whose life is not going well among a group of accomplished friends, is driven to anguish and madness by envy and jealousy. Employing "anxiety" as its key theme, the drama is expected to offer a "green light" to those who have come to a standstill at the warning signal of worthlessness.
The K-drama stars Koo Kyo Hwan, Go Youn Jung, Oh Jung Se, Kang Mal Geum, and Park Hae Joon, among others.
At the script reading, Koo Kyo Hwan captured the inner world of Hwang Dong Man, a man who carries the anxiety of being "unemployed" behind the title of film director. As the actor himself confessed, "It felt like someone had seen right through me," and Koo Kyo Hwan’s deeply immersive, strikingly realistic performance as Hwang Dong Man instantly commanded the room.

Go Youn Jung embodied Byeon Eun Ah, a producer who is nicknamed "The Axe" for her brutal script reviews. The actress brought to life the character's hidden emotional wounds behind her charisma with depth.

Oh Jung Se brought to life Park Kyung Se, a man who has been in a bitter relationship with Hwang Dong Man for 20 years. Though he is a director with five films to his name, he still struggles to prove his worth. At the reading, the actor drew admiration for realistically portraying Park Kyung Se's complexity — someone who spits out sharp, cutting remarks at Hwang Dong Man, yet is, in truth, the person most like him on the inside.

Kang Mal Geum transformed into Go Hye Jin, the head of GoBak Film, exuding firm charisma. In particular, in a scene where she presents herself as supportive of her husband Park Kyung Se yet roars, "I got you to debut fighting tooth and nail not to see you hit rock bottom," she heightened anticipation for the narrative of a married couple who, as colleagues in the industry, know each other all too well.

Park Hae Joon took on the role of Hwang Jin Man, Hwang Dong Man's older brother and once a poet, now a man living with deep regret over his past. The brotherly bond between the expressive Hwang Dong Man and the silent Hwang Jin Man, who quietly endures it all, was portrayed by Park Hae Joon with deep nuance.

Choi Won Young played Choi Dong Hyun, the CEO of a film company who clashes with Byun Eun Ah. He is a man who envies Byun Eun Ah's skill in script reviews but also belittles her.

Bae Jong Ok was seen as Oh Jung Hee, the top actress who wants to appear flawless even off-camera. Han Sun Hwa transformed into Jang Mi Ran, an actress with a candid charm. She maintains a fierce relationship with Oh Jung Hee, who is both her mother and her senior. In front of the camera, the two pretend to be the perfect mother-daughter duo, but off-screen, they turn cold towards each other.

Jeon Bae Soo, who plays film director Park Young Soo; Shim Hee Seop, Bae Myung Jin, and Jo Min Guk, who play directors Lee Joon Hwan, Lee Gi Ri, and Woo Seung Tae; and Park Ye Ni, who plays producer Choi Hyo Jin, all join as fellow members of the film industry.

Having started out as university seniors and juniors and now become so famous that they are known by everyone in the film industry, these people — despite each having found their own place — continue to envy one another and keep one another in check.
We Are All Trying Here is set to premiere on April 18. The K-drama is reported to stream on Netflix.
