With the southern mountains shrouded in mist, a mysterious leopard conceals its claws, lying in wait for the right moment before finally breaking through the long night.
Produced by Youku and Kumi Studio, the costume political mystery drama Leopard in Seclusion officially announced its full cast today, with the key creative team also unveiled. Bai Shan serves as the chief director, while Wang Dawei penned the screenplay.
The drama intertwines investigations into mysterious cases with political intrigue at court, gradually unraveling an old case that has remained buried for two decades.
The story is set in the capital of Xueyuan. A series of bizarre murder cases erupts one after another, with strange incidents such as a gold coin mirror-image revenge case, a performer's mysterious self-immolation, and unusual phenomena at the border becoming increasingly intertwined, leaving both the imperial court and the public gripped by fear and unease.
In the Censorate prison, a prisoner named Wen Jue has become known as a madman because of his erratic behavior. Although he appears to be mentally confused, he is actually deeply calculating and has insight into all the secrets of the imperial court. He has spent years confined behind bars, waiting only for the right opportunity to clear his family's name and redress an old injustice that has long been buried in the past.
Song Yi makes a special appearance as Xie Rou Jia, while Wang Zu Yi plays Gu Xian, an upright and principled patrol officer. He teams up with Wen Jue to investigate cases, holding firmly to his sense of justice and remaining true to his original convictions even in the face of desperate circumstances.
Gong Jun takes center stage as the leading actor, portraying the central character Wen Jue. Veteran and accomplished actors including Gong Lei, Wang He Run, Ye Zu Xin, Liu Chang, and Tong Lei have also joined the cast.
Leopard in Seclusion will be exclusively streamed on Youku.
