New Chinese historical drama 'A Splendid Match' announces premiere date
The special teaser for Brave New World has been released.
Brave New World follows an unknown actress, Sin Seo Ri (Im Ji Yeon), who becomes possessed by the spirit of a notorious villainess from the Joseon era, and Cha Se Gye (Heo Nam Jun), a ruthless chaebol dubbed a monster of capitalism.
The teaser shows the infamous Joseon-era villainess Kang Dan Sim (Im Ji Yeon) receiving the bowl of poison. She hurls the cup and shouts, "What exactly is my crime?" After being subjected to forceful consumption of poison and facing death, the vibe takes a shift when Dan Sim opens her eyes in 2026 on the set of a historical drama, now in the form of the unknown actress Sin Seo Ri.
The vicious chaebol Cha Se Gye radiates charisma worthy of his notorious reputation. However, the Joseon-era villainess who drops into 2026 instantly shatters Se Gye's aura of charisma by whacking him with leaves. Attacked by Seo Ri in the middle of the street, Se Gye also strikes back, drawing the attention of passersby. Seo Ri and Se Gye, facing off while holding tree leaves and flowers — almost as if engaged in a sword duel — promise rib-tickling fantasy.
Expectations soar for the bickering dynamics between the Joseon villainess Dan Sim and the ruthless chaebol Se Gye.
Im Ji Yeon comes to flaunt her versatility in her performance as a fearsome Joseon villainess inhabiting the body of a struggling modern actress. Her charisma and charm showcase her range, anchoring the drama's shifts and making each transformation feel vivid and irresistibly compelling.
The K-drama also stars Jang Seung Jo, Lee Se Hee, Chae Seo An, and Kim Min Seok, among others.
SBS's Friday–Saturday K-drama Brave New World will premiere in May 2026.
