'Good Boy' Park Bo Gum is determined to confront injustice head-on
Jang Young Nam and Kim Sun Young play mothers who have led tough lives in Our Unwritten Seoul.
Our Unwritten Seoul is a coming-of-age story of twin sisters Yoo Mi Ji and Yoo Mi Rae (both played by Park Bo Young) who look the same but are opposite in every other way, switching identities in pursuit of the lives they want to live.
In the K-drama, Jang Young Nam plays Kim Ok Hee, the angelic mother of twin sisters Yoo Mi Ji and Yoo Mi Rae. Kim Ok Hee is a cook at an elementary school who lost her husband early and raised the twin sisters on her own.
While she's proud of her accomplished daughter Yoo Mi Rae, she's constantly worried about Yoo Mi Ji, who has no job and stays in the village.
Kim Sun Young plays Yeom Bun Hong, the vice principal of the elementary school where Kim Ok Hee works, and the mother of Lee Ho Su (Park Jin Young). Yeom Bun Hong is a woman who, after losing her husband, lives relying on her son.
Though she feels hurt that her son, who moved to Seoul for college, is distancing himself from her, she hides her feelings and quietly swallows her loneliness.
Kim Ok Hee and Yeom Bun Hong were once each other's biggest rivals, yet are close neighbors in Duso-ri, having shared a deep bond over the years. Though they seem to lead completely opposite lives, they share many similarities and rely on each other more than anyone else.
Our Unwritten Seoul premieres on May 24. The K-drama will be available on Netflix.
