Netflix unveils the official trailer for Dear Hongrang.
Set in the Joseon era, Dear Hongrang is a mystery melodrama that follows the eldest son of the greatest merchant family, Hong Rang (Lee Jae Wook), who returns after 12 years with lost memories, while his step-sister Jae Yi (Jo Bo Ah) suspects his true identity.
The trailer opens with the news of the coming of Hong Rang to the Min Merchant Guild after 12 years since he went missing. With facial features and every detail perfectly matching those of the Min family's son Hong Rang, who went missing years ago, everyone believes he is the real one — except for Jae Yi, who alone harbors doubts about his identity due to his complete lack of memory of childhood.
The tension escalates as Hong Rang unhesitatingly aims his bow at Jae Yi, standing on top of a tiled roof. She harbors no doubts — "He cannot be Hongrang."
Meanwhile, Mu Jin (Jung Ga Ram), the Min family's adopted son who spent the past 12 years carrying out duties in place of Hong Rang, also struggles to believe the man claiming to be Hong Rang and begins digging into his past.
Scenes of Hong Rang battling mysterious enemies with skilled swordsmanship, while simultaneously showing signs of being tormented by trauma, only deepen the mystery surrounding his past.
The following scenes further hint at Hong Rang battling against an enormous force. The expression of Prince Han Pyeong (Kim Jae Wook), the king's brother and an artist gifted with the most discerning eye in Joseon, and the presence of a mysterious snow-haired figure, pique curiosity about the consequences Hong Rang's return is set to bring.
Dear Hongrang is coming on May 16, only on Netflix. Watch the teaser here.
