Jun Ji Hyun has broken her silence regarding reports that her advertisements were canceled because of the Tempest controversy.

On September 23, media outlets reported that an advertisement Jun Ji Hyun was scheduled to film in Seoul on September 25 for a Chinese clothing brand had been canceled due to criticism of her lines in Tempest related to China.

This week, actress Jun Ji Hyun has been at the center of a controversy, particularly in China. In the latest episode of her drama Tempest, a line delivered by her character angered Chinese viewers by questioning why China prefers war. The statement prompted online criticism from netizens who stated that China seeks peace.

Due to the criticism, some brands that use Jun Ji Hyun as a model have reportedly taken action by removing her advertisements in China. Brands such as Louis Vuitton, La Mer, and Piaget are said to have pulled their ads featuring the actress.

However, Jun Ji Hyun's side has finally spoken up. The top actress's agency, Peach Company, stated, "The cancellation of the Chinese advertisement was confirmed even before Tempest premiered. It has nothing to do with the K-drama."

They also added, "We've already reached out to the local agency in China, and they also denied that the reports are true. The advertisement is not canceled, but has been postponed due to several circumstances."

Meanwhile, Tempest will air its 6th and 7th episodes on September 24. The K-drama revolves around a diplomat named Seo Mun Ju (Jun Ji Hyun) who joins forces with a mysterious special agent named Baek San Ho (Kang Dong Won) to uncover the truth behind her presidential candidate husband.

Jun Ji Hyun is working alongside Kang Dong Won, John Cho, Lee Mi Sook, Park Hae Joon, Kim Hae Sook, and more in the K-drama.

Tempest is exclusively available on Disney+. The K-drama will conclude on October 1.
