Kang You Seok held an interview at a café in Gangnam, Seoul, for the recently concluded medical K-drama Resident Playbook.

Hospital Playlist spin-off Resident Playbook is a drama about OB-GYN residents working at Yulje Hospital as they walk the path to becoming wise doctors.

In the K-drama, Kang played Um Jae Il, a first-year OB-GYN resident. Following his performances in hits, When Life Gives You Tangerines and Resident Playbook the actor has marked his name among the most promising stars to come.

When asked if he feels the popularity, Kang replied, "To be honest, I don't really notice it in my daily life. I even took the subway yesterday," however, "I've been getting a lot of messages from people I know. Starting with When Life Gives You Tangerines, my parents, friends, and acquaintances have been reaching out a lot. My mom's KakaoTalk profile picture used to be my chukka [nephew/niece], but after When Life Gives You Tangerines, she changed it to a photo of me."

Kang You Seok continued, "I think it's been about seven years since my debut, and it feels like I have lived diligently and decently throughout the time." He added, "Riding this momentum, I want to spend my 30s playing a wide range of characters so that I can come across to the public as someone who is appealing and not boring."

Sharing his feelings after being cast in Resident Playbook, Kang You Seok said, "There was a surge of emotions so overwhelming that I couldn't even put it into words. Even now, just thinking about it gives me goosebumps."

He continued, "It was a project I wanted to do so badly that words like 'happy' or 'joyful' couldn't fully express [how I felt when I got selected]. I felt so thrilled that I wanted to go somewhere and just scream out loud."

During his time on the YouTube channel Fullmoon, he shared, "I gave a lot of auditions, and this was the most nerve-wracking one of all of them. I wanted it so badly that I thought, 'Let me ask for one more chance.'"

Talking about the set, he said, "The set was so much fun throughout the filming. I kept thinking that if we filmed it well and it was released someday, it would be great if many people loved it. I waited with that hope. Fortunately, many people did love it, so I'm glad."
