Disney+ releases stills featuring Kim Da Mi in its upcoming mystery thriller Nine Puzzles.
Nine Puzzles is a mystery thriller that follows Yun Yi Na (Kim Da Mi), a criminal profiler who was the sole witness of an unsolved case from ten years ago, and violent crimes Detective Han Saem (Son Suk Ku), who was the lead investigator at the time and continues to suspect her as the culprit. Together, they delve into the secrets of a serial murder case that begins again with a mysterious puzzle piece.
Kim Da Mi plays the role of profiler Yun Yi Na, the niece of Yoon Dong Hoon, a police chief who was the victim of a murder case from 10 years ago. She is the only witness and also a suspect in the case, but due to the shock of the incident, she has lost all memory of that moment.
Since then, plagued by the fear that she herself might be the real killer of her only family, she becomes a profiler to uncover the truth.
Yun Yi Na possesses a keen sense of observation and an extraordinary memory that allow her to quickly grasp the perpetrator's psychology and motives at crime scenes. However, the trauma from that day compels her to undergo psychological counseling.
Kim Da Mi shared, "I was drawn to the unique and fun aspects of the character. She has a brilliant mind, yet also has a fragile side to her," expressing what captivated her about the project and the character Yi Na.
She added, "I imagined that after witnessing her uncle's death as a child, Yi Na's heart and mind may have been frozen in that moment. Though Yi Na has grown up, I wanted to portray aspects of her that [make people] feel [she's] still childlike, so I approached the role in a different way as I normally did in my previous works."
Director Yoon Jong Bin stated, "Yi Na is a very bold and straightforward character when it comes to expressing her thoughts. Kim Da Mi was the first actress who came to mind [for the role], and I felt that if she played her, the character would come across as very lovable."
Nine Puzzles will be available exclusively on Disney+, with six episodes releasing on May 21, followed by three on May 28, and the final two on June 4, for a total of eleven episodes.
