Park Bo Gum's 'Good Boy' confirms premiere date
The bereaved family of Kim Sae Ron claims that Kim Soo Hyun's agency, Gold Medalist, pressurized the late actress.
On the afternoon of March 17, at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, a representative from the law firm Buyou, representing the bereaved family of the late Kim Sae Ron, held a press conference.
Attorney Bu Ji Seok filed a complaint to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency against YouTuber Lee Jin Ho on charges of defamation based on false information.
Kwon Young Chan, the head of the Korea Celebrity Suicide Prevention Association, who was also present, claimed, "Kim Sae Ron tried to communicate with Gold Medalist [Kim Soo Hyun's agency], but she couldn't reach Kim Soo Hyun, the CEO, or even the manager. The agency also prevented her from contacting other actors under the company. She was completely ostracized."
He further explained, "As soon as Kim Sae Ron uploaded a photo with Kim Soo Hyun, she was contacted within minutes. They said, 'Let's find a way to resolve this, let's handle it well,' so Kim Sae Ron took the photo down."
He continued, "The important thing is that a second certification of contents was sent the next day. Sae Ron was supposed to move on February 18, but she passed away before that. While moving her belongings, the second certification of contents was discovered."
Referring to the second certification of contents, Director Kwon emphasized, "It contained threatening statements such as, 'If you upload such photos on social media again in the future,' 'If you contact anyone from the agency,' or 'If the drama Queen of Tears suffers any damage due to such photos, you will be held fully liable for paying the entire compensation amount.'"
He continued, "For Kim Sae Ron, 700 million won was an unimaginable amount, but for the agency, it was a sum they could afford to wait for. Yet, they even threatened to file a lawsuit if the money wasn't sent quickly."
Attorney Bu Ji Seok stated, "To briefly explain the content of the second certification of contents, contrary to what Kim Soo Hyun recently revealed in his statement, it mentioned that it had to be sent due to acts such as breach of trust. However, in reality, it was a demand for the deceased to repay the debt within a given period. Additionally, it included instructions not to contact Kim Soo Hyun or other actors from the agency directly and contained threats of legal action over the photo that was uploaded."
On February 16, actress Kim Sae Ron was found dead. On March 10, allegations surfaced that Kim Soo Hyun had been in a relationship with the late Kim Sae Ron since her teenage years. Additionally, it was revealed that Kim Sae Ron had struggled with financial difficulties after being demanded to pay 700 million won in compensation by Kim Soo Hyun's agency following her drunk driving accident.
In response, Kim Soo Hyun's agency, Gold Medalist, stated that he and Kim Sae Ron only dated after becoming adults and denied pressuring her.
