Netflix is set to release Lee Byung Hun and Yoo Ah In's The Match on May 8.

Released in theaters on March 26, The Match tells the story of the legendary Go (baduk) players, Cho Hun Hyun (Lee Byung Hun) and Lee Chang Ho (Yoo Ah In), who go from being a teacher and student, respectively, to rivals.

As of May 1, the K-movie has garnered around 2.1 million+ moviegoers according to the integrated computer network of the Korean Film Council, making it the second highest-grossing Korean film of 2025, so far, following Hitman 2.

The K-movie was originally planned to be released as a Netflix original. However, the OTT indefinitely postponed its release following the drug controversy involving the lead actor Yoo Ah In. As a result, the decision was made to unveil the film in theaters instead.

Meanwhile, Yoo Ah In has been nominated for the Best Actor award at the 23rd Director's Cut Awards presented by the Korea Film Director's Network for his role in The MatchLee Byung Hun also competes in the same category.
