
The K-movie The Match surpassed the 2 million moviegoer mark on its 27th day of release.
According to the integrated computer network for movie tickets, as of April 21, The Match has attracted 2 million+ moviegoers, surpassing the break-even point of 1.8 million.
With this achievement, The Match becomes the second Korean film in 2025 to attract over 2 million viewers, following Hitman 2, securing its place as one of the highest-grossing Korean films of 2025, so far.
Even in its fourth week of release, The Match has consistently grabbed a spot in the top ranks of the box office.
Along with the news of surpassing 2 million moviegoers, the The Match team released a thank-you video and photos. The cast and crew — Lee Byung Hun, Ko Chang Seok, Hyun Bong Sik, Moon Jung Hee, and director Kim Hyung Joo —are seen smiling brightly at the joy of the film reaching a significant milestone. They expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the audience who have supported the film and chose to watch it in theaters, saying, "Thank you for 2 million viewers of The Match!"
The Match tells the story of the legendary Go (baduk) players, Cho Hun Hyun (Lee Byung Hun) and Lee Chang Ho (Yoo Ah In), who go from being a teacher and student, respectively, to rivals.
