Netflix's hit variety show Physical: 100 to get an American version.
On July 16, Netflix announced the production of the American version of the Netflix Korean variety show Physical: 100, Physical: 100 USA (working title).
Physical: 100 is a Korean survival game show where 100 individuals boasting the strongest physique compete to find the best body. The participants compete regardless of age, weight, gender, or nationality.
Both Season 1 and Season 2 secured spots on the Netflix Global Top 10 (non-English) in over 80 countries. Season 1, in particular, made history by becoming the first Korean variety show to take top spot globally in the category.
The upcoming Physical: 100 USA (working title) will maintain the tension and scale of the original, featuring participants from various domains, including sports, fitness, and military across the States, competing for the title of the most perfect physique.
Yoo Ki Hwan, director of Netflix's non-fiction division, stated, "The Korean Physical: 100 received so much love from viewers around the world, proving that Korean variety shows resonate globally." "Physical: 100 USA (working title) will further realize the global expansion of our variety content and is expected to offer a different kind of entertainment from Korea's Physical: 100."
Director Yoo added, "In the third season produced in Korea, titled Physical: 100 Asia, representatives from various Asian countries will compete with their pride on the line in the show's first-ever international-level battle." He continued, "We expect to showcase an even more intense and evolved survival game to viewers."
Netflix also revealed that, following the U.S. version, a European version of the Physical: 100 format is also in preparation.
Produced in Korea, Physical: 100 Asia will introduce the series' first-ever international-level competition, where top contenders from across Asia compete. The show is all the more anticipated as the boxing champion Manny Pacquiao will be participating, representing the Philippines.
Physical: 100 Asia is set to be released in the fourth quarter of this year. Stay tuned!
