
Park Hae Soo, Lee Hee Joon, and Kwak Sun Young will reportedly star in a new K-drama that is inspired by the Lee Choon Jae case.
On May 22, industry insiders shared that Park Hae Soo, Lee Hee Joon, and Kwak Sun Young have been chosen to lead the new ENA K-drama Scarecrow.
Scarecrow will tell the story of Kang Tae Ju, a policeman who returns to his hometown and begins his chase for the criminal responsible for a serial murder case. The story is based on the Lee Choon Jae serial murder case that occurred in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, between 1986 and 1991. The 2003 film Memories of Murder by renowned director Bong Joon Ho also depicted this same serial murder case.
The upcoming K-drama will be the next work of director Park Joon Woo, who is also known for creating the works Crash, Taxi Driver, and Doctor Detective.
According to reports, Scarecrow will begin filming soon, and it will premiere on ENA next year.
Park Hae Soo got the offer to portray the role of Kang Tae Ju, a police officer and profiler. He will chase the criminal after a series of murders occur in his hometown.
Lee Hee Joon will possibly play the role of Cha Si Young, the high school classmate of Kang Tae Ju who currently works as a prosecutor. The two will work together after they take on the series of murders that have caused a stir in the whole country.
This will possibly be their reunion K-drama. The two previously worked together in the hit Netflix original series Karma.
Meanwhile, Kwak Sun Young may take on the role of Seo Ji Won, the elementary school classmate of Kang Tae Ju who now works as a journalist.
