SBS gives a glimpse of upcoming K-drama lineup
The Chinese suspense drama The Leading Stars, starring Ryan Cheng and Shen Yu Jie, officially began filming on May 26.
The drama centers on geological exploration and public welfare rescue efforts. It tells the story of rescue team leader Diao Zhuo/Cheng Zhuo and off-road leader Ba Yun Ye, a former special forces soldier, who become acquainted through a search-and-rescue mission. During the operation, they uncover clues that indicate their family members were connected through an accident that occurred sixteen years ago.
To uncover the truth, the two travel through harsh and extreme environments. With assistance from the police, they ultimately expose a long-buried conspiracy, prevent valuable geological data from being leaked, and, in the process, transform from being at odds with each other into soulmates.
The cast includes Ryan Cheng, Shen Yu Jie, Mao Xiao Hui, Li Ge Yang, and Tu Yan Song. Filming is expected to last 110 days.
Rumors have it that the originally cast male lead Pursuit of Jade star Zhang Ling He withdrew due to scheduling conflicts. Ryan Cheng is reported to have stepped in at the last minute to replace him, with only 13 days of preparation time.
The drama is registered under Shanghai Hengxing Gravity Film & Television Media Co., Ltd. and is adapted from the novel of the same name by Taotao Yi Lun.
