Recently, an interview with Roh Yoon Seo for the Netflix series The East Palace was held at a café in Seoul.

Released on July 17, The East Palace tells the story of Gu Cheon (Nam Joo Hyuk), who has the ability to cross between the human world and the world of spirits, and Saeng Gang (Roh Yoon Seo), a court lady who harbors a secret. Summoned by the King (Cho Seung Woo), the two set out to uncover the cursed palace's secrets.

Roh Yoon Seo plays Saeng Gang, who is ordered by the King to stay by Gu Cheon's side and keep watch over him.

The East Palace marks Roh's first full-fledged historical drama and her first major genre project. She said, "It's my first project to be released since Hear Me: Our Summer, so I was both excited and nervous. I'm grateful that so many people have enjoyed it."

"I also had many discussions about portraying the Princess. While filming, I learned a lot about how to react convincingly to things that weren't actually there and how to make scenes involving CGI look more effective."

When asked about the mixed reactions from viewers to her portrayal of Saeng Gang, Roh responded candidly, "Because I had a desire to challenge myself, it's true that I felt pressure. Since the series' release, I've been fully aware of those reactions and have been listening to them carefully."

Roh added, "Don't all actors have regrets about their own performance? In the beginning, since so many aspects were new to me, there were things I felt I could have done better. If viewers felt those shortcomings, then I believe it means I need to work even harder. I'm grateful that people shared [those opinions] with me. It was the first time I'd received reactions like that, and it helped me realize, 'Oh, I could be seen this way.' I am grateful. It made me think that I need to keep working harder."

As it was previously revealed, her co-star Nam Joo Hyuk, who performed numerous action scenes throughout The East Palace, ended up losing a significant amount of weight during filming.

Roh, on the other hand, revealed that she lost her baby fat over the course of filming the K-drama.

"I ate as much as I moved around, so I ate a lot from the food trucks. I didn't try to control my weight." "I'm not sure if I lost weight because [filming was so] demanding. I didn't even realize it myself, but after the series came out, my friends said, 'Why do you look like you've got candy in your cheeks?' I think I just lost my baby fat. But Gu Cheon oppa definitely lost a lot of weight."

When asked what genres she hopes to take on in the future, Roh said, "I really enjoy taking on new challenges." She continued, "I learned sign language for Hear Me: Our Summer, and there were also many things I tried for the first time while filming The East Palace. Being an actress allows me to learn and experience these new things. If I had chosen a different [career], I don't think I would have had opportunities like these. Experiencing and learning something new is really fun." She added, "I'd also like to try proper action scenes. There are still so many things I haven't had the chance to do, so I want to try them all."

Roh was recently reported to have joined the cast of Disney+'s Moving Season 2 as a new character. When asked whether that meant she would have action scenes in the upcoming season, Roh blushed and burst into laughter. "Your questions are flowing in so naturally." But she remained tight-lipped, saying only, "Please stay tuned."
