'Moving' star Ryu Seung Ryong risks everything for his daughter in 'Portrait of a Family'
On August 5, the urban drama The Wind Blows Again (literal translation) held its launch ceremony in Xiamen. Lead stars Tian Xi Wei and Wei Da Xun attended the event, marking the official start of filming for the new series.
The Chinese drama is produced by Youku and adapted from "The Winner" (literal title), a novel by Lang Lang published on Douban Read. The series will consist of 24 episodes and is expected to film over a 90-day production schedule. It will later be released exclusively on Youku.
Director Lien Yi Chi is at the helm, while the screenplay is co-written by Zu Ruo Meng and Qian Jing Jing. The production's art direction and costume styling are likewise overseen by seasoned industry professionals.
The story centers on mistaken identities. Pursuit of Jade actress Tian Xi Wei stars as Lin Qing, a brilliant mathematics major from a small town. By a twist of fate, she is thrust into the world of the wealthy elite, where she assumes someone else's identity and is forced to become entangled in a web of complex family power struggles. She carefully navigates the treacherous environment while guarding a secret. Relying on her intelligence and resilience, she fights to reclaim the life that rightfully belongs to her.
Wei Da Xun plays Zhao Jia'an, the eldest son of a wealthy family who does not share the same surname. Reserved and deep, Zhao Jia'an is meticulous, with loyalties that remain shrouded in mystery.
Zhao Jia'an and Lin Qing's relationship is defined by probing and push-and-pull tension. Caught in the vortex of the wealthy family, they continually observe, test, and challenge one another, creating intense dramatic conflict.
Unlike a typical urban melodrama, The Wind Blows Again places its emphasis on a woman's fight to break free from desperate circumstances while weaving together elements of family power struggles and a realistic workplace setting. Even the drama's title carries symbolic meaning, representing the protagonist's ability to continue growing with resilience after enduring countless setbacks as she ultimately achieves self-redemption and personal growth.
