On April 29, 2026, according to Beijing Xing Quan Law Firm, in a case of online infringement liability dispute, filed by Wang Yi Bo against Lai (name partially withheld), the defendant Lai, in accordance with the effective civil judgment, published an apology letter on the related Weibo account, issuing a public apology to Wang Yi Bo.

Between October 25 and November 25, 2024, the defendant Lai used the involved Weibo account to publicly post insulting and defamatory remarks targeting Wang Yi Bo, allegedly seriously infringing upon his lawful rights and interests.

After trial, the court determined that the content contained insulting and offensive language as well as improper statements lacking factual basis, constituting disparagement of the plaintiff's dignity and involving negative evaluations of the plaintiff's character and moral integrity.

This constituted a disparagement of the plaintiff's public image, was clearly intentional, and constituted acts of insult and defamation, all of which were bound to cause a negative impact on the plaintiff's social evaluation (reputation) and caused damage to the plaintiff's right to reputation. Accordingly, it was determined that the defendant had infringed upon the plaintiff's right to reputation.

Based on the above, the court, in accordance with the law, ordered that the defendant Lai publish an apology to the plaintiff Wang Yi Bo pinned on top of the homepage of the involved Weibo account, and compensate the plaintiff Wang Yi Bo for mental distress as well as reasonable expenses incurred in protecting his rights.

As of April 29, 2026, the defendant Lai has publicly posted an apology letter on the involved Weibo account and has fulfilled the obligations under the court judgment to pay compensation for mental distress, as well as reasonable expenses incurred in protecting his rights.
