Xu Kai and Tian Xi Wei's 'Moonlit Reunion' announces premiere date

Moonlit Reunion, starring Xu Kai and Tian Xi Wei, is premiering on August 18.

The series is adapted from Fu Hua's novel "Mei Fu Ren Chong Fu Ri Chang" and tells the story of Mei Zhu Yu (Xu Kai) and Wu Zhen (Tian Xi Wei), whose fates get intertwined as they join hands to protect Chang'an.

Xu Kai plays Mei Zhu Yu, the nephew of Noble Consort Mei — a man whose name carries a poetic ring yet is, in truth, utterly dull. Gifted from birth with the ability to see spirits, he was sent to a Taoist temple from a young age to practice Taoism. This upbringing shaped his serious and rigid nature, leaving him indifferent to worldly affairs. For more than twenty years, his life had been dull and flavorless — until the day he met the spirited and lively Wu Zhen. 

Tian Xi Wei plays Wu Zhen.  On the surface, she is the second young lady of the Duke of Yu's household and the only younger sister of the reigning empress. But in reality, she has inherited demonic powers that let her take the form of a cat, serving as the unseen guardian who governs the Demon City. Though considered an "unmarried leftover woman" of older age, she lives carefree, dressing in men's attire and traversing hunting grounds on the outskirts of the capital. She is bolder than most men and more carefree than any young lady.

Apart from Xu Kai and Tian Xi Wei, the C-drama also stars Wang Jia Yi, Zhu Zheng Ting in a special appearance, and Wu Jun Ting, Yi Da Qian, Fan Shi Ran, Nick Shan, and Lai Wei Ming in supporting roles. Xu Hai Qiao, Huang Yi, Bao Jian Feng, Qiu Xin Zhi, and Zhang Shi make special guest appearances.
