 Indie Art Girl:

There's My Secret Vampire that started recently. And Dora just posted about Romancing the Ghost.

I haven't met any of the past BL challenge titles yet and not even sure where to start! Maybe I could use this one too?

It’s a good story you just have to put up with terrible video quality. but it’s a movie so it’s short. Also I plan to watch either Hush or Touch of Fever on Gaga for pre-2005. Both movies are by the same director and they say Hush is iconic. This has a very detailed description about the director and the feeling of his films.

if you need 2010-2015 there’s the original Love Sick (2014) which is good except it doesn’t have a happy ending. it is also iconic and does have a season2 which I never watched. I still thought it was worth it. I may have had to watch it on daily Motion  though because i couldn’t find it anywhere else.

This right here is doing smth to me. Nope it's not a sexy pose, but the fit is fire. I would love to wear it. Thee is doing everything he can to win Rati's heart, I love it! (IMO, one of the few highlights of Wandee Goodday was Great's sexy eyes, lol.)

I'm only halfway through Memoir of Rati and I've already added it to my Top BL Picks list.

So glad you‘re enjoying it. It’s really good.

Love Sea: Ai no Ibasho

Episode: One:

  • I started watching this on a whim, not really anticipating much since I wasn't a huge fan of the Thai version. However, I found this first episode to be quite enjoyable.
  • I appreciate how this adaptation avoids rushing into sexual tension; instead, it portrays a connection between Kaishin and Ai that transcends mere physical attraction. They already display a playful demeanor. I cherish their soft eye contact. It is gentle, tentative, and inquisitive. They are silently reading each other, testing the waters, and I find that delightful.
  • AI seems less aggressive; instead, he displays a more frantic demeanor. It's clear that he's feeling overwhelmed, and I think his emotional expressions and reactions to Kaishin come across as more genuine. His fear of abandonment and the potential loss of someone in an untimely way was depicted more authentically in this version. In my view, there was a reduction in the dramatic display of trauma and an increase in dialogue about the origins of his panic, which created an opportunity for friendship to develop between him and Kaishin during this scene; he didn't have a meltdown. He was simply frightened, and he expressed his fears openly. This allowed me to connect with the character on a deeper level. Surprisingly he also has a slightly playful side, which is a refreshing addition to his character.
  •  Rather than being overly sexualized, Kaishin seems to embody compassion and understanding. While he has a playful side, there are also touching moments that capture my attention, no matter how subtle they might be. The writers don't heavily focus on his financial reasons for caring for Ai; it's acknowledged, but presented in a nuanced way. When money is mentioned, it doesn't immediately evoke thoughts of escorting; you almost forget that he is being compensated. Sure, it's his job, but his demeanor and emotional involvement with Ai make you feel less guarded; he doesn't seem to have a hidden agenda. Instead, he simply appears to be a kind and playful person who can be flirtatious at times, but not in a way that makes you uncomfortable. Oh, I almost forgot  he refers to Ai as a cat and meows at him!  What an accurate description!
  • Thank goodness for Fumi, as we get a fresh take on this character that differs from the Thai version. The over-the-top facial features and interactions in the Thai adaptation were quite frustrating for me, causing me to skip some scenes. Asuka Kawazu truly captures this character beautifully. She expresses exaggerated emotions and reactions perfectly, without going too far. In my opinion, she provides just the right level of response needed for the scenes when they happen.
  •  I don't have much to say about  Himeka other than the voice for the actress is so freaking adorable like I would swoon if she was talking in my ear, we haven't seen what she can do yet however, I'm liking her friendship with Ai and her back-and-forth with  Fumi  so far I'm excited to see how they interact in later episodes when they start to become more romantically involved

I'm eager to see how the story develops. If the series can maintain the quality of the first episode, I believe it will deserve a higher rating on MDL.

So glad you got around to finally watching it.

Yes me too! Often I wait so I can binge at my pace. Glad I waited for this one.

 dora:
First of all, I don’t love short-form. Everything feels abrupt unless it’s done really well. I’ve actually watched quite a few short-form dramas and a lot of them are disappointing

I fully agree. There may have been one or two I liked, but the probability of that happening is very low.

I have watched You Are My Present  too for UpPoom  but i coudn't get into the story

Oh right.  @Dora too...

It took a lot for me to finish Lovesick 2025. The thought of watching it again is giving me flashbacks. I know it's iconic and everyone's favorite from long ago cuz it comes up in many BL convos, but once was enough. 😂 💀

I will see if I can find you some other titles. from that time period.

Both Seven Days: Monday - Thursday and Seven Days: Friday - Sunday have been on my PTW for years. I finally watched the first tonight and loved it. Such a sweet story.

Art Girl has already seen it, but for the benefit of Dora and anyone else:
This is effectively a movie in two parts, with this being part 2, so you need to watch "Monday - Thurday" first. The total runtime (for both parts) is a bit over two hours, so it moves along quickly.

I liked it but didn't love it. It's a fundamentally good story (originality, emotions, progression, love story), although with a lot of Japanese-style miscommunication and misunderstanding. It feels a bit dated (also because of the mediocre video quality) and very Japanese, but it's nice as a love story (very PG).

Update: This year has been somewhat challenging for me with BLs. I experienced a huge slump, but  I've recently overcome it, so I'm excited to begin some new series.

Airing titles, I'm currently watching:

  • "The Wicked Game" - Daou and Off's chemistry is truly impressive. I'm looking forward to seeing how this drama unfolds.
  • "Lover Merman" - I wasn't really impressed by the first episode, but I'm open to giving it a try. To be honest, I'm mainly here for JJ and Dew.
  • "Takumi-kun" - The first two episodes were incredibly adorable, and I'm all in for the wave of emotions they are stirring up.
  • "Revamp the Undead Story" - This drama has been one I've been looking forward to for a long time, so when it finally premiered and I saw the low ratings, I was surprised. Honestly, after watching a few episodes, I have to say I disagree with the rating. Is it a flawless 10 out of 10? No, but it's certainly not the worst vampire BL I've seen—I'm looking at you, "OMG! Vampire". I believe all six of the main cast members are doing a great job in their roles; they're really making the most of the script they were given. I was a bit taken aback seeing Boun in his role, but he kind of grows on you; his character is quirky yet lovable at the same time. lol
  •  "Love Sea: Japan" - I just started this today, so I don't have much to say about it yet, but I really like what I've seen so far.  I wasn't a fan of the Thai version, so as long as this one stays on track, I think I'll enjoy it more.
  • "Khemjira" - The chemistry, the horror! I'm really enjoying this one a lot.

Plan to start in October:

  • "25 Ji, Akasaka de Season 2" - My babies are back! I understand that many people aren't fans of slow-paced dramas, but the first season really captured all the emotions and set the perfect atmosphere. Now, I'm excited to watch these two discover what it truly means to be a couple.
  • "Goddess Bless You from Death"   - I have a soft spot for mysteries. I'm curious to see what Phoom and Pooh can achieve when they're not weighed down by the aspects of the Omegaverse.
  • "A Man Who Defies the World of BL- S1& 2" - Honestly, I'm just here for Asahi Ito and Atsuhiro Inukai. I will always support my boys!
  • "Me and Who" - A billionaire ML, contract marriage and the power to read minds. I'm all in for it.
  • "Mystique in the Mirror" - Any drama that is considered a psychological romance has my complete attention.
  • "That Summer" - I'm including this on my list because it  includes one of my weaknesses hidden identity .

Glad you're over your slump and are again finding enjoyment.

I haven't yet started on "Wicked Game" or "Revamp" (despite my enthusiasm for Boom, Prem, Daou and especially Offroad), but of your other four currently watchings:

I'm lovin' "Khemjira" (my fave currently airing series) and "Takumi-kun" (big step up from the earlier movies).

My preliminary verdict on "Lover Merman" (after the first episode) is that it's mediocre at best but somewhat entertaining.

After nine episodes of the Japanese remake of "Love Sea", there are things I like about it, and Nishime Shun plays the role of Ai very well, but Kunigami Masato is no match for the incomparable Fort Thitopong (speaking more from my heart than my head). I'll be interested to hear your feedback once you're caught up.

@Art Girl, here's yet another title for our massive October release list - supposedly starting October 22.
