im glad your daughter got you as a mom, there are actually mothers like CSS' mother. Just like I do. they exist; I guess there are more in conservative cultures.

couldnt agree more. their are many killers in this drama but characters i hate most are CSS' mother and YS. They are the true villains here

yeah. i mean no family is perfect, and she disliked luo yao for same dang reason. by her standard CSS cant ever get married. she's just dragging CSS at this point.. she will try to find fault of anyone she chooses to marry.

I'm Korean and I could really see my mother speaking through CSS's mom. I say those way of nurture is more like efficient torture. It breaks the very essence of a being; which is self trust. With that kind of a mother, you always doubt yourself. They break you down. However good their intentions are, it freaking doesnt matter.

can't agree more. I mean I agree CSS is a hard one to crack, but she's super thirsty for parent's love so she will listen to her mother if only she put it gently but she never did. At this point the one who can never learn and change is CSS' mother, not CSS. I think in later episodes(part 2) she will get the love she deserves from the queen, which would've been the mother's if she treated her own daughter right. CSS is the character who repays love with love and hate with hate: She has super strong standards but truly kind and upright person who know's what's right. I mean look what she did when she broke up engagement with Luo Yao. She took the higher road for greater cause and didn't offend anyone, even Luo Yao, while doing it. She might be careless but wise, but her own mother refuses to see that.

oh yeah. you are absolutely right! he was clearly trying to gaslight her. He was using his status as a tutor to do that too. Now i hate him even more. compared to Luo Yao, he's despicable

In next episodes preview, he even badmouths CSS to LBY. Even if it's out of jealousy (or to drive LBY away) it's purely disgusting strategy. I would never want CSS to end up with him. I like Luo Yao so much more.

BTW, am I the only one who HATES YS(CSS' tutor) character? I really dislike him. I mean. cheeky or snub male characters with high status/intelligence is favored by many viewers, but YS is taking it to the next level. He's just MEAN. I HATE guys who bully girls they like, and think it shouldn't be justified, even if they are young. And yet YS is like 20 years old. I mean wtf?

Couldn't agree more. I freaking HATE her mother. she's driving her own kid outta home (which in that era, only way for a girl to leave home is to get hitched)and into (precipitous) marriage. Yet she doesn't want/approve CSS to get married. I mean wth? I'm like, Woman, it's your own mess. You forced your daughter's hand to make premature decisions to leave home. What choice did CSS actually have after that HORRID speech that mother made? Between broken engagement and that horrid statement from her own mother, CSS had to say yes or she could not get married like ever. She tainted her daughter's rep even though if she meant well. She could have just said like two short sentences, like "she's still recovering from broken engagement" or "she's not good enough, so i gotta teach her beforehand and that takes time" stuff. She didn't have to embarrass CSS in front of everyone.

There are tons of death in this drama, yet the biggest villain is CSS(FL)'s mother. What a twist. I really HATE, JUST HATE CSS' mother. She reminds me of my own. Why can't some mothers just love their children for who they are, rather than putting some impossible standard which they can never achieve? CSS' mother always rejecting her own daughter's choice of men, first Luo Yao, now LBY, she just thinks CSS' is not good for anyone and not fit for marriage. Shouldn't it be the other way around? Aren't parents supposed to think no guy is good enough for their daughter? I really can't stand this character because my real mother is almost exactly like that. And let's just say, no wonder CSS wants to leave home via marriage. Being with someone who undermines you all the time, esp if that is your mother nonetheless, is the most horrible thing in the world. I hope she either drops dead or change her mindset sometime soon. It's beginning to bother me enjoying this drama.
