the trailer was... fine? the acting is outright terrible which is expected when you cast random models but even on a limited budget, id say they managed to capture the essence of the manwha despite obviously toning it down.
i feel like with a proper length adaptation this would actually turn out pretty decent which leads me to reiterating my point that i always make: ENOUGH OF SHORT REELS BLs. these production companies just need to spend some extra money and make a packed 8-10 eps series like every other kbl/jbl.
i'm not a huge fan of the original source but i guess atleast this means there's still gonna be room for a full length adaptation with a bigger budget and hopefully with actors who aren't just pretty faces and can act.
Some more information for newbies. In Japan BL genre is not taboo. The most successful idols, top actors, and…
is thee yamazaki kento doing a gay romance project or did i misinterpret that?
honestly this is what i love the most about japan. you'll literally have anyone play a bl. even extremely popular jpop idols. i was so happy when my childhood favorite furukawa yuki did a gay romance movie (restart after come back home) and then later he played a support role in queer dramas like kamisama no ekohiiki and me, my husband, and my husband's boyfriend.
ive been waiting forever for yamazaki kento (and kentaro sakaguchi before the cheating scandal) to pick up on a bl project eventually. would be my dream come true.
that trailer was so good but god we are in for some insane misery. didn't expect mizukami koshi's role to be a gay one too. idk how this character narutaki ryu could reject such fine shi even if he is his best friend.
i think this show will have a lot of romantic tension between both the leads that will burst at a very wrong time and thus not end on a good note. that's what i definitely expect at the moment.
pple claiming this is exploiting queer community are funny, THIS?! Not BL that literally survives on the fantasies…
the practices of the thai bl industry aren’t always right and ive always been outright against the toxic ship culture but…
how the hell are bl shows catering to the homophobic fans and not this show? if anything it’s bromance stories like these that feed off the homophobic fans sexual fantasies where the men are close enough but never gay because that’s something they view as wrong.
skynani literally became popular from the bl industry you speak of because fans of that industry SHIPPED them. why are they following the same exact model as that industry? why are you supporting the same model by your logic? why do they keep doing the series together? why are they playing into this fixed ship thing? it’s the same thing except they’re getting away having to portray themselves as gay. why is gmmtv pushing them more than the ones that play the gay role? is it embarrassing?
and this is much bigger than you think. if thailand that is so open to gayness is backing away to make safer bromance shows instead while still benefiting from the model that the queer stories set up for them and we’re simply allowing them to, just think what it would mean to other countries that are fighting to have their queer stories being produced.
gagaoolala is making the discourse far worse by using the rainbow flag for this show 😭 even id start thinking this series is just queerbaiting to the max
I was never interested in J-dramas much because I thought the compact plot and running time was too short for…
100% agree. i think soul mate by netflix might be a show to watch out because if it doesnt shy away from being a full on gay show then it'll definitely lead the way for slightly longer and higher budget japanese bls.
extremely boring bl yes but god choi jae hyeok... you are one fine as hell man. how i wish kbls went back to atleast having the same budget as love in the big city.
I’m so freaking excited for this it looks fantastic. As always skynani are great. But once again big finger…
to be honest, given how long they've been in this game, GMMTV should've been the leader in prestige gay television. instead their prestige projects have always been for the hets. we've had so many more popular gay pairings that never ever got a budget on this caliber.
Saw a lot of discourse on this on X so decided to post my thoughts here: yes, it’s unfair that GMMTV doesn’t ever put this much production budget into any of their BL shows since they earn mostly from them but that doesn’t mean we should attack the actors for it.
it was a very very cute show and i'm someone who is super tired of this setting in bls. nothing groundbreaking sure but its nice to see an old formula being perfected. dmd is on a spree w back to back hit bl shows. maybe it's time to move to the love upon a time community now lol.
This show is a 8/10 for me. It really is a great show but is a very mediocre bl. The development just wasn't there…
i found it really refreshing that a thai bl focused this heavy on a story but definitely was a bummer that it sacrificed a lot of romantic development for it.
Although I was very disappointed with GemFourth after My Love Mix-Up, I still want this to be good. I don’t…
tbh thank god domundi is on a back to back hit spree with khemjira, duang with you and now most likely love upon a time too since its already in iqiyi top 3. ive only liked khemjira thus far from them but its nice that gmmtv has some competition thats clearly spending a lot more money on production than gmmtv is.
gmmtv shows are still nice but they definitely need to up the production and improve screenwriting in some areas. i feel like all the recent gmmtv shows really lose the steam halfway the show and they really need to do something to keep up momentum.
ugh i hated when ohmleng had to split up and were ultimately removed from only friends s2 and now the same thing happened here.
like ugh both these shows had such a spectacular lineup. anyone who comes to fill in the space doesnt end up make me go "woah this show has a star studded lineup"
I’m really curious if/how Khemjira’s success affected Domundi’s next lineup. I hope we get at least one…
hopefully. i know dmd loves doing romcom bls like duang with you and your sky more but i think they nailed this perfectly so they have no reason to shy away from a more plot heavy bl anymore.
probably a hot take but i personally find thai bl romcoms pretty much meh now after years of watching them lol. they feel super repetitive to me (only mr thee was somewhat an exception).
enjoying this a lot so far but i think first season was more daring when it came to mixing up the couples. i guess they’re now afraid of upsetting the fans of these fixed ships.
this season just gives “we're gonna do it but actually not” whereas the last season we actually had everyone doing it with anyone lol.
