NAH FRš this drama is emotionally violating me atpš every time I think Iāve recovered they drop another heartbreaking episode like??? Ji Ling deserved the whole worldš„¹š«¶š» Iām not surviving ep 23 and 25 am I š
Iām on Episode 20 right now and damn⦠I cried so hard for Ji Lingš„¹ His scenes completely broke meš This drama just keeps getting more emotional with every episode!!
I honestly regret wasting my time on Legend of Fei. This drama was exhausting to sit through, and not in a good way. The storyline is completely ridiculous!!! Everything revolves around the female leadās grandfather to the point of obsession. Every single episode feels like a broken record: āgrandfather did this, grandfather did that.ā Itās beyond irritating. At some point, it stops being storytelling and starts feeling like forced worship.
The overuse of flashbacks is unbearable. I swear nearly 80% of the drama is just flashbacks. Instead of moving the plot forward, it keeps dragging you back into the same repetitive history. Honestly, it shouldāve been titled āSAGA of ENDLESS FLASHBACKSā instead.
The female lead, who is constantly hyped within the drama, isnāt nearly as impressive as the show wants you to believe. Her character gets everything handed to her on a silver platter: skills, power, reputation all thanks to her grandfatherās legacy. It feels unearned. Her acting is just okay at best, definitely not worthy of the level of praise she gets.
But the biggest disappointment is how the male lead was treated. The character had so much potential and was introduced as intelligent, mysterious, and intriguing. I was genuinely excited to see his story unfold. Instead, he was reduced to being completely useless. Even after major reveals: like him being an emperor...thereās zero payoff. He doesnāt act like one, doesnāt take responsibility, and doesnāt contribute meaningfully to the plot.
His army is literally fighting for him, risking their lives, and he just wanders around like none of it matters. Thatās not humility, thatās negligence. A ruler, whether reluctant or not, should at least acknowledge his responsibilities. Even villainous kings in other dramas show more initiative and presence than this character.
What makes it worse is that he clearly has the intelligence and capability but just never uses it. Instead, he ends up following the female lead around, adding nothing of substance. Itās frustrating to watch such a promising character be wasted like this. Even side characters, like the female leadās brother, had more importance and impact than him. This was a complete injustice to Wang Yibo.
This drama perfectly highlights a recurring issue Iāve noticed with female-lead-centered stories that they often sideline or weaken the male lead unnecessarily. Iāve rarely seen male-lead-centered dramas treat female leads this poorly, so why does it happen so often the other way around? Strong female leads donāt need weak male counterparts to shine, yet this drama seems to think so.
Because of this experience, Iāve completely lost interest in watching FL-centered dramas. If this is the standard > overhyped female leads, underdeveloped male leads, and repetitive storytelling then Iād rather skip them altogether.
Overall, Legend of Fei is a frustrating, poorly balanced drama that wastes its cast and its potential. Definitely not worth the hype.
