in my opinion, this show showed that both mom and son had problems, and yes the mom did heavily contribute to what caused it. Lynx's mom was never a perfect character, neither was Lynx. As a parent, an argument could be made that she was more culpable, but I think the show helped us to understand both sides. The talk at the end wasn't really whitewashing in my opinion, just an honest discussion that the writers had already majorly explained throughout the series. The talk just put everything down to words.

it might be sad, but I take it as she thought Lynx won't want to be tied down by the cats. it's sad and annoying, but from her perspective, Lynx has made it very clear that he wants nothing to do with the cafe and has jobs lined up (means to take care of himself), while Leo has nothing
