The true meaning behind trusting and supporting each other

What a beautiful drama. We have a solid background story for the FL and ML, a super fun way for them to reconnect, and a wonderful relationship to watch.

At first, I thought this was going to be the common plot of non-celebrity dating a big celebrity that would be full of privacy issues and insecurities. Instead, it's a beautiful story about two individuals who are passionate about their careers and find a way of being together without compromising who they are.

The first thing I loved about You are my glory was the fact that the FL fell in love with the ML because of how smart and passionate he was about his dream. He was handsome, yes, but she truly went further and found the very essence of his being. They both have very demanding jobs, and they spend more time apart than together because of it, but when they do, they make the most out of it. They don't focus on miscommunication, on being petty, on being angry. Whenever a less positive emotion comes up, they talk about it. They work through it together. And it's so refreshing to watch such a healthy relationship on screen.

For someone who doesn't like/understand gaming, the episodes focused on it will probably feel boring. But I can tell you, as a gamer myself, e-sports are extremely well portrayed here. Not only the environment, but also all the game jargon and how an e-sports team works together.

As for his job, I hadn't really considered how hard the life of an aerospace engineer could be. And watching the reasons behind every project, behind every next step humanity takes to understand the universe, was very satisfying. In the end, they both work super hard in their own industries, and they never fail to be there for each other in both losses and victories.

Now, last but not least, this is my first Yang Yang drama. And oh my god, this guy is insanely handsome and so expressive AAAAAA. There are a lot of kissing scenes and super funny banter - none feels displaced, and my heart felt full while watching them.

Heartbreaking

I don't even know how to start this. This is such a beautiful love story, but also such a necessary portrayal of how war affects people. We tend to create emotional distance between ourselves and what's happening out there (because it happens far away), but this drama will bring you right into the battlefield, into the frontlines, where you will suffer as much as everyone else.

The acting was phenomenal. Chen Zheyuan is such a versatile actor. He was soft, he was strong, he was brave, he was vulnerable. He was hurting. Gods, every time I cried in this drama was when he was hurting (and he gets hurt a lot). I also never expected I needed a Chen Zheyuan in a military outfit... That was hot. I knew him from Hidden Love and always thought he had this innocent aura, until I watched him in this drama. We've been blessed!

I didn't read the novel, and I watched this drama completely blind, and still, I immediately understood there was romantic tension between Sa Xin and Benjamin. Unfortunately, due to the censorship, there are only very subtle hints and a Dr. Pei who tries to dispel this feeling (it didn't work for me; Dr. Pei felt like a third wheel). I wish we had a drama just for them!

The ending is terrible. Not in the sense of being bad, but in the sense that it broke my heart into a million pieces. After everything we witness in this drama, it hurts so badly how things end. Even if it's an open ending and they try to make it soft, it's easy to understand the meaning behind it, and unfortunately, that is the reality of a lot of war veterans.

Mixed feelings

I normally don't leave reviews, but this drama is worth doing it.
Im a big sucker for the childhood trope evolving into a serious relationship later. But Sang Yan was so awkward. I think I even preferred the Sang Yan from HL.
Wen Yifan had a gorgeous character development: she went from being miserable and lonely into being kind and resilient. But I cringed really hard with the ballet scenes - I am a ballerina and it was very hard to watch.
I loved the second couple, it was easy to understand why they fell in love with each other. The grandpa arc made me think about my grandfather, and made me smile multiple times.
In the end, it was an interesting drama, especially because of the FL story. But feeling like the ML was boring and awkward really didn't help.

A rollercoaster of emotions

I gave a very low score on the rewatch value because I don't think I will ever have the heart to watch all the suffering in this drama again. It made me cry, it made me scream, it made me skip work because I needed to finish it.

One of my favourite things about this drama is that it's very easy to spot each arc and how they influence the characters and the story. Each one of them brings character development and layers that are extremely important to what's to come.

Tantain Jin might be most tragic character I have ever watched. There was a point that I was just sobbing and asking WHY CANT THIS MAN JUST BE HAPPY FFS. And even with everything that happens to him, he manages to be true to himself until the very end - and not in a perfect way. This is where I feel this drama shines: how it shows all the stages of his grieving, including the last ones where he still relies on his ability to lie. For the greater good, yes. But it's still a lie.

The arc with the God of War and the Clam Princess was one of my favourites. The actress behind that hateful character who ruined everything is freaking amazing because I really hated her SO MUCH, until the last arc where I finally felt something soft for her. And that says a lot for me.

And the entire arc of him as the king, omg. All the times they betrayed each other, hurt each other, loved, cried, smiled... I felt everything so deeply. Especially the part where he believes she was in love with Xiao Lin the entire time but still wants to be with her. Every time they married was a stab in the heart, something always went wrong!!!! And then she dies and he just goes full obsessive, crazy, heartbroken... I was suffering with him right there.

The only negative side of this drama, for me, were the last 10 episodes. Too much stuff happened in such a sort time and it was hard to digest.

But woah... This is one of those where I left a piece of my heart behind from watching it. I just know it will be a long time until I stop thinking about it.
