Yes I love how they spliced Lamu fireworks scene with YQ 2.0 fireworks scene in the ending credits. Can't wait to see how the shards are reflected in 2.0

I think the point of the torture was to deaden his feelings since he's probably forced to dull them to endure the torture & it wouldn't stop until he stopped having emotions. The trauma & pain probably helped it along. And yes re: killing a loved one was like a shortcut. I forget which fiction, but I'm pretty sure I've encountered another story where killing a loved one led to gaining a huge amount of power that was otherwise hard to attain so it's not a new / unfamiliar concept.

I *especially* love her kissing him on the cheeks while super happy bc that means she no longer has to fear what she'll see when her lips touch him which is something that it seems like she's always had to do with her partners & that sounds traumatizing tbh.
