Both the FL and brother suffer trauma abuse from the mother so the brother became attached to his sister as abused victims. Seeing her "fly" away was hard cause he was being left behind and he was unable to do it himself. He was also brainwashed by the mom to be against the ML.

Watching scenes again, the FL had her stupid parents. I think the ML should of been more understanding and not so mean to her. Like the entire conflict between them was a misunderstanding that he thought she abandon him while the reality was her parents threw away all the letters he/she wrote

Playing with fire extinguished is likely something young people might think is harmless but is something important that should not be messed with. The shocking part is that professional firefighter and health care worker characters was doing it whom should of known better in the story . A accidental fire taking out your apartment block is much bigger threat then many other crimes. The government (kinda parental state) made it into national news so the entire country noticed it. I think the low douban score was too harsh. I haven't finished it yet but i enjoyed it.

i didn't finish it but i read it is "happy ending" for the fl/ml as much as it could be for the republican era since we know what happens next in history... but there are deaths of side characters

I had to fast forward a lot and skip most of the last 2 episode 😂. compare to kdrama romo, cdrama romo don't have good antagonist plot to supplement the story

I think this was based over a decade ago. china was much more unsafe and corrupt during the early 2000s. imo long ballad is probably the easiest dilraba drama to get into for a average cdrama viewer
