Three episodes in and this is just bizarre, weird. It is a murder mystery but the characters (mostly) seem to be a bit deranged as in mentally unstable and twisted. The father? is completely bizarre and his makeup is a bit drag queen, as in overdone. Then there is the s & m couple smh. Just too many crazies so far. Going to drop. Sad for Lou Rong. Liked him in Kill Lover.
On the other hand, FL's hairstyle doesn't really suit her, it's kind of distracting and must be super heavy to…
Call it as it is, ugly hairstyle and most definitely distracting in nearly every scene. It is nonsensical that she would go around like that all the time. Lazy film making with amateurs.
Typical short form storyline. FL bent on uncovering the truth behind a death. She thinks she is smart and capable and can go up against a large number of bad guys. News flash she is as dumb as a bag of rocks constantly putting herself in danger wherein the ML must rescue her. She is hell bent on personally pursuing the truth, behind the murder, and it is not really logical why she feels she must do this herself. She is physically incapable of fighting anyone.
The fight and pursuit scenarios the two leads escape from time and again are ridiculously portrayed and they both should have died multiple times over. IMO the FL is a rather wooden actress and not believable. I can’t feel anything much from her. She is just going through the motions of the role. I cannot fathom nor understand why the ML would be so interested in her. It’s not believable. The ML on the other hand is quite good.
Three episodes in one thread or comment rather, enjoy.:I think third wheel is too naïve. Saying he’s going…
The FL and her continually declining EQ, so true, so annoying and so ridiculous. You are brave soldiering through all this and writing the recaps. I dropped this drama but check back on comments. Hasn’t improved and continues downhill.
Onward and upward to Coroner’s Diary which thus far is quite good.
Prince Ning wants to become the emperor "legitimately" instead of an open rebellion.
Legitimately become the Emperor? Is that what he was doing? It might be what he wanted others to believe but he didn’t really care about legitimacy.
Omg, people don’t have families? There aren’t servants around? Was every person locked up or killed? Were their tongues removed? It would get out. They always portray people as gossip mongers in these dramas. Talking and speculating about everything happening in the palace and courts. Behind the scenes? Controlled ? For a while, maybe.
There is what the drama portrays and then there is realism.
Yes, I watched all the episodes, thank you for asking.
We have 5 episodes. Of course Jiang Chang Yang survives but about King Ning, no idea. But just a wild guess, he…
Because it is a drama and it doesn’t have to be realistic, lol. I agree it is illogical at this point. A coup is a coup and open treason is treason so why keep him alive?
Then he and JCY would have both died if he did that. It was just the 2 of them and Mudan against a bunch of other…
Of course, JCY is not dead! This is fantasy drama land and there will be an explanation as usual. In a world where people continually fall off cliffs and are stabbed and on their feet days later, I would expect nothing less.
What is best is up to debate. Your view supports the storyline.
We can argue about losses and what is chaos when it comes to the general population and who is affected the most but I don’t really want to get into that too much. It doesn’t seem things have been too great for them for a long time but the focus isn’t really on them, is it?
The people are side characters used to push forward the “objectives” and conflicts of the nobility. The hero’s must fight for the wellbeing of the “commoners” and be very noble and strategic in doing so. Sadly, the commoners lives are easily disregarded regardless of who is in charge and they improve little. The people must be satisfied with their ability to exist at all.
The Emperor is and has been manipulated openly in fact. He has to plot because HE IS being manipulated. First you said he wasn’t manipulated then go on to say he is but he’s plotting. Yes, he wants it to stop but people are dying even so in the process. Primarily, soldiers, scholars and some court supporters. Sometimes the band-aid needs to be ripped off quickly rather than slowly with drawn out pain.
Yes, I watched Blossom btw. I know the storyline and I’m talking about hypothetically whether a person such as this Emperor, in these circumstances, with his history and in the heat of the moment would choose to go along and stand there watching his greatest supporter die while he personally is being publicly humiliated. I can see the direction and I’ve watched enough of these to know he will prevail. It is fiction after all not reality. I just think it’s a stretch and in the real world wouldn’t happen.
And this is why you don't wait to deliver that kind of episode after 50 episodes. How much more tragic would it…
We are of the same mind my friend, lol! Of late, I essentially watch until midway then wait until episodes accumulate. Then I ff through them and I mean ff or if it is popular enough look through comments on this platform to pickup any tidbits that may be relevant. Later I watch the last few episodes.
Sadly, with many this year I don’t even do that much. I have been dropping dramas halfway through and then having zero desire to check back on the end result. The quality has really been going downhill and I just can’t…. Don’t even get me started on the baby voices and conflation of innocence with acting like a very young child. The message it sends to watchers (women especially but men too) with impressionable minds that this behavior is desirable or attractive and should be emulated is concerning, smh. On some level I must say I find it disturbing. Let’s not go there…..
Waste of time.
