i only rely on posts in xhs and dy + official charts as weibo data can be manipulated, i've been following zhou ye's works even before and sadly noted that every time she has new works there would be hot searches criticising her. the same case apply in lotfg wherein just 10 min from airing, there's already a hot search criticising the drama for plot change which comes as deliberate targeting. this time, the target is the drama itself because there is nothing to nitpick in zhou ye's appearance or performance as he yan. her acting (especially eyes), is being recognised once again for the first time in a while after her performance as wei lai in better days which is relieving to see.
zhou ye was dubbed in WoH, idk as well why they keep dubbing her as she obviously can use her own voice based on her movies + also accepted in broadcasting department of beijing film academy.
She was trending on Weibo for a CP with Song Zuer when Prisoner of Beauty was airing. She’s just very boyishly…
yeea i saw that, too and this is where the request for her to play as xie jing xing with song zuer as shen miao for malicious empress went viral i think 🤣😭
I remember being very concerned when I saw Zhou Ye was cast in this role, but I stayed cautiously optimistic because…
kinda tired of explaining at this point, there are multiple discussions below on the character design + i get this is personal impression but factual data says otherwise – zhou ye's he yan continue to dominate in terms of popularity and discussion of this drama based on various data platforms in china. in fact, if you ever stumble in chinese platforms, he yan's casting is the only one accepted by book fans and perhaps the sole reason why this adaptation did not collapsed on the get go. while i like the rest of the cast, it's not tasteful how zhou ye's he yan is being undermined when i'm fully aware that this character has been attracting passersby and basically carrying the show. glad you are giving this a chance for further development as you go along on the next episodes tho.
He Yan in the drama is sooooooooooooooooo different from He Yan in the novel. I don't mind that they changed the…
i don't think she's girly in the drama? maybe you already see them in ambiguous romance and thinks he yan's actions are girly when she is just teasing xiao jue similar to the novel. also, in the novel, isn't he yan's outward image being carefree but underneath she’s still calculating and observant? still the same he yan in the drama. she finally has a chance to savor a life outside the battlefield, the carefree moments aren’t entirely an act — they’re also her way of relishing the things she never got to experience before. i thought novel readers would have more empathy for he yan in this aspect. "From now on, I am simply He Yan."
Ngl, the complaints are getting annoying. Especially because, due to censorship, things are obviously not going…
spot on! and i only see these comments here in mdl so don't blame me for hyping he yan up here. zhou ye's he yan character popularity exceeds 10 million + broke 9 on the v link chart (not all can do it), ranked 3rd for August 8th data + currently ranked 1st with popularity index of 120+ million in douyin. these says a lot!
Same. I feel like the only people that would enjoy watching this adaptation is the novel readers. It just lays…
i wish this is indeed the case in china haha but in the first day, some novel fans posted rants about the drama and the casual viewers were the ones who liked it. thankfully, it aired successfully on the first day and the next days got better through word of mouth from both artists' fans and casual viewers. there are also some novel fans apologising and started watching it 🤣 but there are still those hating, good thing is that they're mostly blaming the screenwriters and not the artists 🥲
