I just watched the first 7 episodes and the whole time thought Han was the ML until I read the comments here LOL. The FL and actor playing Han were leads in a previous drama before, so I thought they were paired again in this one. I liked them on-screen together. The actual ML's screen presence seems rather weak imo in here and another drama I saw briefly.

they'll have more sweet moments together.

Hahaha i thought the same while watching it for the first time this past week.

I really hope Lin Yu Shen gets a lead role in a nice budget ancient drama; the man is a really good actor.

An example is the bracelet the ML gifted to the FL years after she happily married the SML.
I was quite surprised by the hidden message within the bracelet she read by chance after receiving it from him after her rebirth. Only this time, he gifted to her before her wedding -- which is years before the time he originally gifted.

This really pulled on the heart strings because not only do the viewers realize how long he has held onto this bracelet before gifting it to her in the previous life, but the FL also came to this realization. And that the girl whom he beautifully described he fell in love with was her all these years.

Currently, on episode 12 so far and I am really enjoying how the writers wrote the angst. Most of the dramas I have seen recently only showed the viewers what one main lead sacrificed for the other main lead -- but the other main lead never really get to learn about said sacrifices.

If you like angst where the ML loves the FL even when the FL loves someone else, then this hits the spot.

Edit: first time seeing a drama where the SML has more skinship with the FL than the ML LOL.

Sometimes a character is better off dead because the other doesn't deserve to be happy with them.

From what I gather in the comments, this sounds like an unrequited love from the ML while the SL is in love with the SML. Better yet -- tragic ending. This is my cup of tea!

Did they ever explain the story of the pictures of (assuming the younger version of FL) a young girl in the ML's laptop? lol

Or are we supposed to assume he was a classmate and that was left to our imagination?

If you're looking for a good cry, then this movie may help.

ah, i hope to find a good translation of the novel. throughout the drama i was expecting eldest brother and sister-in-law to make an entrance giving our FL a helping hand.

night and day different. wrtw was a lent down imo. started out well as a wuxia drama but the editing toward the end ruined it.

this one isn't a wuxia and from script to production, its much better.

Maybe check out Dream of Splendor; historical setting and mature script.

I'm guessing it's to light a fire under the FL because she was leaning toward depression and giving up attitude. He probably felt the only way was for her to turn her sadness into anger/resentment so she can continue to fight for herself. Her in-laws accusing her of having an affair maybe made her realize she needs to finally move on from her scumbag ex-husband and speak up for herself.

Her smile looks like a nervous one.
Wouldn't be surprised if the dude whispered in her ear: "I can make you very famous ;)"

I commend him for actually knowing how to ride horses. None of those fake horse-ride scenes that I have seen in other dramas lol.
