Haishi and Jianming had a son together. When Weiyun is proclaimed as the heir, he is described as the eldest son…
wow, I don't know if I listened that carefully to be able to answer ur question. LOL. You are wondering if someone else can take over FJM's role?

watch all the way till the end, it's like a Marvel movie, post-credit ending. After that if you still have questions, let me know.

i was pulling my hair out, more so as I heard that scene was shot, just not shown. What I would give to watch why he had an epiphany!

Hang on.... Shao Zi ge is the one that has a moustache and is always doing things for FJM right? He was also the one who brought the food to her when FJM chased her away, during his lecture on LeiZhou right?
I just rewatched E48, he is there at the residence, informing her that FJM is waiting for her in his room, when she runs all the way in with her blood-soaked gown. Can you check?

Some things are left unexplained. They cut 7 eps down. I wonder what happened in that 7 eps. So:1. What happened…
1) I was dying to know. looks like we won't find out. Someone mentioned that there were scenes of them burrying HS' mum together and they were in some kinda cave
2) erh, I think he wasn't bad enough? Meaning once he lost at the wrestling match, he doesn't have the respect of others and thus can't come back as a leader anymore. So, at least he does have some ethics??
3) erh, left to our own imagination - sounds like ZL revealed herself, after all she's always known his whereabouts, she was the spy connection for all his messages
4) Yes, there's a huge hint. First the mermaid's reaction. Second, The translation on WeTV is incorrect or rather not accurate for the announcement where Consort Chu Rong is appointed as Empress Dowager. Instead it should read: The eldest son, Prince Wei Yun promoted Consort Chun Rong of Feng Wu Palace to Empress Dowager.
The word used was the eldest son which was missed out totally. Du Xi only had one child with Ti Lan, he had no other children. So the word the eldest son confirms that HS had a child with FJM. Most of us saw the reaction of the mermaid when she touched HS's hand as she was returned to the sea. But some of us thought it meant that she found out they were together. There are no other clues after that and during the conversation btwn the child Emperor and HS, there is no mention of a sibling, so this is the only clue we have.
5) If we go by the earlier episodes, he can only emerge with a mask on his face. though I think that's a stupid explanation, anyone who looks at his built and face, hairstyling can tell it's him even with the mask on
6) Someone said he's the internal spy that let General Chang in. That I have no clue.

I agree, a leopard doesn't change its stripes. And she pressed FJM to investigate General Chang but he refused because the Emperor didn't want to pursue the matter. So I think both knew something was going to erupt sooner or later. In a way, both were blindly optimistic.

One last thought I wanted to share, cause I am thinking about the drama whole day (that good it was) that in quite…
yes, u are right! She has been listening to his 'lectures' and even the little boy can tell that the mother likes it and the Grand Mentor enjoys her visits. So, there's no hiding that. There's no way they have not met in between. She needs his counsel on matters of the state and he is the strategist. While she is very intelligent, she lacks experience. What probably is less likely to have happened are moments of intimacy. We can stretch our imaginations that HS is still HS and she would still take the initiative as FJM can be quite a prude. It's quite likely that Mu De Qing is taking care of the crown prince, if he ain't too old and he knows for a fact that HS and FJM are a couple. So, there are ways to get around wagging tongues, if they try hard enough.

Btw, you do know right that there are some hints that FJM and HS had a child?

I don't consider it tragic though cos they've always been satisfied just to be with each other. At least for Haishi,…

Combine this with the mermaid's reaction when she holds HS' hand. Though I think HS misunderstood that reaction and didn't know what it meant, unless with physical contact, she can also hear the mermaid's tots.

I see. but Shaozi is that the door again to welcome HS in that blood-soaked gown scene? if he had been the mole, wouldn't FJM have killed him? Yes, I notice there was a delay in him coming to the Emperor's rescue. I was wondering what that was about too.

As for her keeping in touch, I dunno whether u watch k-dramas or not? But this reminds me of Faith and General Choi Yung. He leaves with her but keeps looking towards the palace. Something happens and when he finds out too late, his heart is broken thereafter that he wasn't there to protect the Emperor and the Empress. I suspect HS knows the same would happen to FJM. He's been too long involved with matters of the state to really give it all up. And even if he did and something had happened, imagine, if the baby were to die as well, I think FJM would re-live that scene of guilt all over again. So HS was taking steps to make sure this would never come to pass.

i haven't had the heart to watch E47 yet. So the pigeon was hers and not FJM's? I would have thought it's his.
hhmm.. well FJM did tease her about being reluctant to leave the palace and she didn't explain what that reluctance was about. She just pushed him and told him to stop teasing her.

100% concur with you. Though I wonder if HS understood that reaction, unless she has some mystical powers herself and can read the mermaid's thoughts? A human can't tell at that stage, you need at least a month to miss ur menses to know...and I doubt it had been 1 month yet.

yah, prolly, make YM look good on the throne! LOL
I don't think it would look good for the Emperor's reputation to revive FJM though, he'd come across as a liar, though I don't think he would care, he's dead anyway but FJM won't do that to him. FJM is royally dead - even had his place in the family altar...which is why he can only wear that silly mask now. The sickly baby part is just an excuse to torment us will the threat of ill-health and tentative demise. Frankly even if the babe were not of ill health, was FJM and HS gonna run off, for heaven's sakes. This is playing into the theme of fate and destiny - you think you can escape ur family's fate, think again!

I think the way it was worded plus the mermaid's reaction, you are right - it tallies with the observations of other viewers who caught that scene. And these are people who understand the language, including urself. i also asked my hubby, he said they won't use that phrase if there is only one child, doesn't make sense. Bearing in mind, this isn't a contemporary drama, it's a period drama.

I feel that there were other scenes which would have fed us that info but have been ommitted. Just that with editing, there was no way they could reshoot that last scene to inform us about the child, using the conversation btwn the child and HS. They could have added in one sentence about 'playing with your brother' or 'going with your brother/sibling to visit the Grand Mentor" and that would have done the trick. I mean why would FJM teach someone else's child and not his own?

Or it would have dug up a can of worms, I can imagine China viewers crying foul at having this information being played down. So best to lie low, perhaps?

i dunno if this is an afliction of women directors and scriptwriters. If we had male directors, how different would the ending have been? U think? And this is coming from a female as well, so I'm not being gender-biased here.

yes, I thought u knew or u were in disbelieve?
I completely missed it until I read someone's post. Then I went back to listen to it, made my hubby listen to it to verify and yup...that's what was said. Silly WeTV, how could they have mistranslated that subtitle??? it pisses me off more that they didn't do their job well. Ok, I am also upset that they produced another generation of baixi. I was asking my hubby if it's possible it's a girl. But unlikely, since they said first son, right?

CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN THE FEATHER?! WHY IS THAT IMPORTANT. What's so special about that white duck-looking bird…
Thank you for enjoying the explanation. For anyone who wants to find out what the feather from the crane is likely to have meant, please read my post above.

Anyway @tiasmovingcastle, that's the meaning I infer from it. I suspect the peace and longevity is the message the directors wanted to send but it's up to interpretation whether the longevity is meant for FJM or the Crown Prince. Though because he caught it, I took it to mean it's for him. As for everlasting love and loyalty, it can apply just as much for the other 2 couples as it did for the first couple.

btw, feel free to use some of that explanation in ur review, if u wish so it's easily accessible. I've to keep putting it into spoiler in case someone vexes about seeing it and hasn't watched the last episode yet.
