I just finished this drama and I feel exactly the same way. To add a thing about Sun Oh, I think he's just a selfish and egocentric brat with no respect for anyone. As for the acting, you are right. But actors can only do so much despite bad script and/or directing. For me, best actress was Shim Yi Young (Hye Young's mother)
On a side note, director Ahn Pan Seok made the same kind of a mess with "Something in the Rain" but redeemed himself with "One Spring Night". If you haven't watched these dramas, do so in that order "Something in the Rain" first then "One Spring Night". You'll see the difference. So, for "Love Alarm", if it's the same director/script writer, let's hope they learned from their mistakes.
You made a good summary of that drama. To me, Sun Oh is just a selfish and egocentric brat who doesn't respect anyone. Almost a narcissistic dude. And Jojo falling for this guy because of a kiss? No self-esteem? Seoul is a pretty big city. What are the odds of JoJo coming face to face with her boyfriend when she needed him the most? ... aaaah yes, it's a drama. I was in front of my monitor saying "Wow...just Wow..." From that point, I never, ever, believed in their romance.
It's interesting on how many people don't trust themselves. They have to depend on a piece on technology to see who likes them. In this drama, Sun Oh seems to believe that the world revolves around him. He's a selfish and egocentric brat who does things without respect for anybody. Kisses a girl who is in a relationship, no problem. Kisses a girl when his best friend really likes her, no problem. Sun Oh is one of the worst. On the other hand, Hye Yeong is the opposite. He is an altruistic man but lacks confidence in himself. Kim JoJo has a sad past and knows what she wants. But in matters of the heart, she's quite naive. This drama is a bit frustrating. Seeing JoJo falling for Sun Oh for no real reasons...ah yes, the kiss. And he's also cute...pppffff I understand she couldn't be with Hye Yeong since she doesn't really know him but again, Sun Oh made sure they wouldn't meet. And the ending...bah
I love Han Ji Min and wonder why she didnt get any offer for any drama before? As for this drama, well tbh I kinda…
I think, for some reason, most people expectations for this drama was pretty high. I haven't seen "Go Back Couple" or "Familiar Wife" so I won't comment on these. As for me, I discovered Han Ji-min in "One Spring Night" and she simply took my breath away...wow... what a great actress. The chemistry she had with the male lead... For this reason and this reason only, I will watch "Familiar Wife" first.
Am convinced that only people who can dislike this are critics by profession or those who dislike romcoms as a…
Yup. When I start a drama, I know what I'm getting myself into and I try to watch without expectation. I am an IT professional and there were a few things here and there that made me wince but as for the rest, I went with the story no problems. Funny because this is the second show in a row where a main lead has prosopagnosia (face blindness disease). The other being "The Secret Life of My Secretary".
I was so disgusted by the father. His only concerns were his reputation, job and retirement plans. He was pretty…
If you were so disgusted by the father only means the actor did a pretty good job at it :) (reminds me of Joffrey in Game of Thrones) I have friends who moved from Vietnam and Cambodia for those exact same reasons. Don't forget some mothers are exactly like that also. Story wise, it's a simple one. A woman meets a man and we follow their evolving relationship. What I loved the most about this show was the relationship between the 2 main leads. Their respect and honesty for each other. And their chemistry was off the roof... At 8.3, for me it's underrated.
Two and half episodes and already all the story was too obvious...Usually i really love the acting of 'Kim Young…
Yes. From the first episode I was on the impression of a Cinderella kinda story. Overall, it's not all that bad. I've seen far worse than this while others like "One Spring Night" are so much better. I never really rooted for the 2 main leads and the director may be at fault with this. On the other hand, I loved Veronica Park. She was so good.
Seo-Ins husband is a rapist and a wifebeater. if you go as far as to justify that with Moral Standards in the…
Seo-In's husband is a rapist, yes. Not only that, but her father kinda approved of all this. Jerks are everywhere on this globe. Male or female. I've seen women abuse men just as much. Not physically, but psychologically. I wonder what's worse. The show didn't promote this at all. They just showed us what can happened, even to good person and in the same process justified as why Jeong-in made a good choice with Ji-ho.
Even if I'm a big fan of this series, they killed off Baek Soo-ji. I loved this character so much season 2 so I won't even bother to watch season 3. I know the show is around Goo Dae-yeong but to me, Baek Soo-ji was the second-best character in this series. Too bad.
I'm half way thru this and I'm having a hard time. Not that's bad, it's just that I've watched One Spring Night not long ago and I loved Han Ji-min's character.
I would have preferred an ending with the wedding!is there an extra ending?
Don't think so. I think it's perfect just the way it is. The ending left several doors open so if they want to do a season 2, they might be able to do it...but I doubt it.
I'm probably the only viewer who hated Ji Ho's character (specific egs in the spoiler). She's the type of heroine…
Whoaaaah...is there something you want the world to know about? You should take this with a grin of salt and go with the flow. There are a few things FL did I didn't like but for me, it's just a drama. Don't watch "One Spring Night" because you'll end up writing things about cheating and long term relationships.
So relatable when you're in a relationship for many years and married. There were situations that felt like watching…
I totally understand how you feel. If you haven't, you should watch "One Spring Night". It's all about long term relationships and marriage but with South Korean settings. If "Because This is My First Life" is a show you can relate to, you probably will with "One Spring Night" also.
