Title Boss & Me
When you watch more of the show you get to understand more about WHY they each behave the way they do. You see…
Best of luck! Tell me what you think if you make it through. I'm genuinely curious.

I assure you that I'm not going to bash you or act like an idiot if you disagree with my assessment even after giving it another chance. Not in the slightest. It's just that your reactions to those earlier episodes is EXACTLY like mine were the first time I watched it. So if your opinion of it changes like mine did as the story progressed, this could turn out to be something you really ended up enjoying and I find that to be pretty cool. :)

I'll say this too. The first time I watched it I was literally surprised by how much I ended up loving it by the end. I even made a note to myself as such - that it completely shocked me how much I ended up liking it.

The second time I watched it (after I waited long enough to forget the details) I found that I enjoyed it even more from a lot earlier and got frustrated a lot less.

I just finished watching it for the third time (after waiting a long time again so I really couldn't remember the details at all) but I think I enjoyed it the most this time.

I agree wholeheartedly with your description of ML's character. He played the same personality in the c drama…
OMG he did! But he gets a tremendously better in this one as the drama progresses though. In Sunshine of my life I feel like his character didn't grow as much as this one did and his manipulative crap lasted for most of that drama...if I remember correctly. It's been a while. That drama frustrated me to no end! In this one she was the one having him running in circles by the end and he was loving every minute of it.

His actually comes around a lot faster than hers actually. I think if it didn't most of us wouldn't have lasted as long as we did. LOL! IIt takes longer for her to get over her self-esteem issues than it does for him to start acknowledging his flaws and for him to lighten up a bit and be less controlling in the relationship. In fact, I'll spoil it a bit for you and tell you she has him pretty much wrapped around her fingers for several of the last episodes, just because of how deeply he loves her. They become frigging adorable.

One thing I can say is the man learns quickly. The FL's development is slower but also not quite as frustrating as you'd expect, because she's pure and she's stronger and smarter than she realizes (or those around her give her credit for). He's the one who believes in her. She gets a lot of bad advice which will make you think things will go a certain way but then she goes with her gut which works out. There are definitely ups and downs but the show does a good job of showing them handle things, see it through and move on to the next. So whenever you get frustrated just keep in mind that it won't last long. They actually can surprise you too with how much they grow from each hurdle they overcome.

I'm trying to remember but I want to say maybe around ep 12 when she finally confesses is when the manipulation dwindles away. It's when he starts talking to her more. Their dynamic starts changing. But bear in mind he doesn't do a good job of opening up at first once they first start dating. Then when he finally does, it brings them a lot closer very quickly (like maybe 1-2 more episodes??), once she finds out why he was so closed mouth about a certain topic. Then it gets much better from there on with him. She may frustrate you some though. Her self-esteem issues go on for a while.

Title You Are My Secret Spoiler
but you didn't speak about fl and how she never do something for ml except one thing and he do everything literally…
She didn't support him with his work? Seriously? What in heaven's name are you even talking about? With his employees against him?? Are you even talking about the same show? Bringing his employees meals to thank them for supporting and welcoming him was showing a lack of support? Supporting him as he pursued his career and studied and worked hard for it didn't happen I guess. I just switched off and watched the wrong things at those times then huh?

Do I think she was great in the relationship? Absolutely not. Was my comment about their relationship as a whole? NO, IT WAS NOT. I simply pointed out that that aspect of the ML's character was handled very poorly by the drama, in my opinion. As far as I'm concerned those 2 never should have been together in the first place. BUT MY COMMENT WASN'T ABOUT THEIR RELATIONSHIP AS A WHOLE. It was about the fact that they purposely made it seem like that particular VERY CHAUVINISTIC VIEWPOINT held by him and his family was okay and understandable when it is not.

Oh wait. I get it. You probably did a typical skim through the show and not bother watching it properly then form an opinion and rant like so many people on here do. You clearly didn't actually watch it properly so there's no point in even discussing it with you. THEN you clearly also didn't actually read my comment properly but instead skimmed through it then decided to comment. When that wasn't even what I was talking about.

If you want to make a point do so based on the facts of what actually happened, then I'd happily consider your viewpoint. But don't just pull random, inaccurate arguments out of the air and come and try to build a case. That's just a waste of my time and everyone else's.

No you aren't wrong for having that expectation or wanting that. I want and expect the same.

I think you've still misunderstood what I was trying to explain though. Early on in the drama, like you, most of us were mad at his behavior too. However, as the show progressed we came to understand that he WASN'T always abusing his power (although, yes, admittedly there were definitely some times he did and, of course, at those times the rest of us were very angry too), he simply didn't know how to interact with people in a way that was not that of a boss. He didn't know how to connect with her. Also, as he came to understand her better he realized some things she needed to figure out on her own.

All I'm saying is, don't just lump it all in as many of us are fine with toxic behavior. That's actually very insulting and also very inaccurate.

This show was about two very flawed people coming together and finding a real and pure love. He was flawed and so was she. But they both grew as individuals and as a couple as the drama progressed. That's why many of us will say, give it a chance. He also learns from his mistakes, as does she. What may not have been the healthiest of relationships in the beginning - he was too used to being a powerful executive of a large conglomerate while she was too immature, naive and unconfident - ended up being a story of how they both bettered themselves as individuals and together, to build a strong and very healthy relationship.

THAT is what people love about the drama. Not the toxic behaviors in the beginning. It's about how they weaved their way through their own messiness, despite all the toxicity and bad advice, around them too, to become much better individuals and have a beautiful, pure and healthy relationship.

That's what gave the drama the high rating. I just don't want you to continue to have the wrong impression of what it is people on here are supporting.

THEN comes the other thing that still infuriates me this time around - the FL doubting him YET AGAIN! UGH! If…
One thing that doesn't make sense in ep 32. They're trying to pay him back anyway. Why not rent one of his properties? I get that he would be charging them less rent than usual but they'd still be PAYING him rent - hence the money would still be going towards reducing their debt AND the money they saved from the reduced rent would help them develop the business faster to pay him back faster from their profits too. It's a win-win for everyone. The properties were empty, meaning he'd be losing money the longer they remained unused. So even in that regard using one of his properties would be helping him. This is actually another example of her not knowing how to separate private from personal. Just because she didn't want to use him to succeed she didn't think logically - neither from a business standpoint nor as a debtor dealing with a creditor. Even the cousin saw the benefits of allowing him to own the business until they paid him back, yet she couldn't see the benefits of renting one of his properties.

One of my favorite aspects of this drama though is how they don't linger on one topic or issue for very long. The story is very fluid. I can't dwell on the things that bother me. Things become old news very quickly. Yet, I don't feel like I have lingering frustrations or loose ends or unanswered questions. Everything is dealt with and we aren't left hanging.

THEN comes the other thing that still infuriates me this time around - the FL doubting him YET AGAIN! UGH! If I were him I'd tell her ass to just leave. How many times does he need to prove himself to her? How many? Yet she ALWAYS doubts his love for her. He's the one who's been steady and unwavering. Her family has wronged him in more ways than one and then to realize how easy it is - STILL! After all they've been through - for her to cast him aside. I'd be done with her ass!

These last few episodes are still the most frustrating to me. The FL and her family all piss me off completely.

Up to Ep 5 and quite enjoying it. However, I'm finding the coercive behaviour of the ML quite creepy. Why do writer(s)…
When you watch more of the show you get to understand more about WHY they each behave the way they do. You see that he needs her to realize certain things on her own so he pushes her to do that. She lacks confidence in herself and a lot of what he does is in an effort for her to gain her own confidence and also because he likes to tease and play pranks on the people closest to him. You see later that this is actually a playful side of him that outsiders don't understand. As she gains confidence and their relationship grows she tells him no for a lot of stuff and just goes with it. She still plays into some things like picking out his food for him because it's a "thing" between them. She does it because she wants to not because he asks her to.

The first time I watched this I remember not liking a lot of stuff but the character development was great in this drama. Or, better yet, I should say they way they help us understand the characters as the drama developed was done well. If you start skipping you won't get it though. It's all in the details with this show.

I'm not trying to convince you that your impression is wrong. I'm just explaining why although many of us were angry just like you, that when we grew to understand what was really happening between them and understanding the true nature of their relationship, why we didn't find their behavior to be toxic. It would take so much time to explain it all though and that's just not what I want to spend my day doing. LOL!

I don't really enjoy a plot where the lead falls for second lead first. like LLTG and this drama.
Are you referring the FL's crush on the SML? I'm very much like that too but this one was truly a mild crush and she started crushing on the ML at the same time. She crushed on them like you'd crush on an idol. No real expectation of ever actually dating either them. Also, her crush on the SML is very brief. She only starting thinking of him as potential boyfriend material because she was able to have actual interactions with him - so her idol was right in front of her and real. But even that phase was really brief.

Once both men finally start to seem like real, touchable people to her is when she starts thinking about them in the context of actually dating them. It doesn't take her very long at all to realize her feelings for the SML were only superficial.

Her real feelings towards the ML were very subtle at first but they develop to something more real very gradually (but quickly). So gradually that it takes time for him to get her to realize and admit her real feelings for him. For her he was so out of reach it was like having those feelings were pointless so she'd convince herself she didn't have them. But he forces her to admit she likes him, not just for himself, but for herself. He needed her to be honest with herself too. He knew about her self esteem issues.

My sharing this is to say it's nothing like LLTG. Not at all. So you may actually want to give it a try.

thanks a ton for saving me a bunch of time. I'mma skip this one.
This is why you shouldn't always just listen to someone's feedback. They literally said all they saw were some clips and they decided they couldn't understand how people could consider it a good series. That entire situation that got them so worked up didn't come close to explaining all of the context of what was really transpiring in that short scene.

The ML didn't just stand there and accept the kiss. He and the SFL had been talking about her realizing that she'd finally really moved on from him and she confessed that she only just realized how much she was in love with the other guy. She was telling him goodbye and then just suddenly kissed him out of the blue. He didn't have a chance to even react. The FL was already there. She had only just found moments before that the SFL had been in love with the ML all along and that he hid it from her. The SFL grew up with them and was like his sister - genuinely so. More so than I've seen in any other drama. He NEVER ONCE led her on. He had always firmly told her they had no chance and she always knew the entire time that she had been fully rejected.

The FL felt betrayed because he never told her about the SFL having feelings for him so she felt blindsided and left unable to protect herself. Those around her all knew too so she felt betrayed.

If the person above had literally watched just a little more of the scene they would have seen how much the SFL actually came clean and felt badly for causing trouble because for once that literally had not been her intention. She'd been so caught about in her emotions about her own (new) relationship and wanting to let go of her "obsession" (her word) of the ML that she wanted to say goodbye.

The ML was just too upset by seeing how much pain the FL was in that he couldn't say anything. He didn't know how to fix it. He didn't respond because he didn't care. HOW CAN YOU MAKE THAT ASSESSMENT WITHOUT EVEN BOTHERING TO WATCH THE SHOW! [I don't mean you, literally, I'm referring to the original commentor whom you responded to.]

The drama is very good. It can be frustrating in some ways but not overly so. It's pretty mild actually and even better to watch more than once when you know what to expect and have a better understanding of the characters, which you gain as you go.

Thinking of picking this up again revisited here.. Thn I thought of seeing some clips on yt then Saw a clip. How…
Y'all are completely taking this out of context. He didn't expect the kiss at all. He didn't see it coming. There is so much more to the story than this. He is not a cheater in any regard.

This is literally a situation of seeing a scene and making a judgement without understanding the context or the story behind it.

Not once did he ever lead that SFL on. In fact, when she kissed him it was a goodbye kiss because she'd just finished telling him she'd finally come to her senses and fully let him go. In fact, they had been talking about how she was struggling with letting herself admit she had moved on because she - as she had just confessed to the ML - realized she was now in love with someone else. Her story with the SML had already taken precedence in terms of context for several episodes by then.

The problem for the FL was that she knew nothing about what had been going on the entire time. Although he had ALWAYS shut the SFL down completely he never told her that the SFL had feelings for him - thinking he was protecting her, after taking bad advice from his best friend. The reason the FL was so upset was because she'd been blindsided by all of it. She finally started understanding some of the SFL's actions and so she felt betrayed by all of them for keeping her in the dark.

Watching this again now - I think this is my third time over the years - and I've found that this is when I've enjoyed it the most. Now that I can watch it with clearer expectations I'm able to see more of the details that I'd overlooked previously. I haven't gotten as worked up as I did the first time I watched it. The second time I watched it I do remember gaining a stronger appreciation for it. This time is when I've enjoyed it the most...because I understood the characters better I was more understanding and accepting of their flaws.

Anyway, one thing that has never sat well with me is how the FL's father stopped the wedding due to the cousin's debt. It STILL doesn't sit well with me now. It's one of two things that still infuriates me about the entire drama. It's a debt not caused by her but by her thieving boyfriend whom her mother had been forcing upon her from beginning to end. I understand the family feeling responsible and wanting to repay the debt. However, this time I particularly feel for the ML. The FL's father is only thinking about his pride and the pride of his family. He's not thinking of it from the other perspective - for the ML his money being stolen is linked to their family but now because of that same family he also has to give up his marriage?! HE has to give up his happiness to appease your family, when your family is the one who owes him? How in hell does that make sense? How can that possibly be fair?! Because we owe you we want you to give up your happiness until we can feel vindicated again???

Every time I've watched this, THIS is what has pissed me off the most about this drama. That scene right there where the father selfishly calls off the wedding. It's all about pride and prejudice. He assumes that the wedding means more to the FL and their family than it does to the ML and his. He made his decision based on his assumptions about what they valued, without understanding them at all and therefore not realizing how much his decision was even more hurtful to them than losing that money was.

Then the FL, KNOWING what their relationship means to the ML and hearing all that he said, STILL couldn't put all the outside shit aside and put him and their love first. I felt SO BADLY for the ML. What if they'd already been married when it happened? Would she have asked for a damn divorce? That is NOT what a marriage is!!!

OMG so true!!! There are too many frustrating personality traits happening back to back in this show. It should…
I haven't finished it. It's still on hold. I never got past the scene where the ML's best friend barged in and made himself comfortable. I've been trying to convince myself to pick it back up all week long but as soon as I start, I immediately stop and start looking for something else to watch. I'll go back to it eventually but I definitely need to be in the right frame of mind to make it through this one. I've needed something both less frustrating and more romance-focused lately - where the romance started early and was maintained throughout the drama. This just wasn't it. I'm in a slump.

He clearly pissed off the wrong person because none of this makes sense. I'm glad the entire world is seeing how messed up this is though. It means it's more likely he'll be able to make a comeback. I'm not one to say renouncing one's citizenship should be considered but in his case, he should be considering it and relocating.

OMG so true!!! There are too many frustrating personality traits happening back to back in this show. It should…
I'm only on ep 7 but I've found that the FL tends to make assumptions, particularly in regard to the ML. Her best friend is the queen of making assumptions and drawing inaccurate conclusions, then compounding upon them - it's like she's constantly writing stories in her mind around situations instead of actually seeing them for exactly what they are. Now the ML's best friend is showing a complete lack of consideration and manners by barging into their home and making himself comfortable, completely imposing on them and very rudely too. It clearly hasn't registered that his friend is living with someone else so he can't just barge in and make himself at home.
