Well I remember being so excited about cutie pies first few episodes, I even recommended it to my mom and wouldn't…
I thought I remembered your username from earlier in the season. Ah well. What are you watching next? I'm going to be landing on Star In My Mind and Plus & Minus.
Oh, we go through this every week. Every week a new episode comes down and we all post varied remarks about it.…
Yeah, it's really ridiculous. But as a drama comes to its close, I find the people who have been fighting the freedom to post tend to get crazy. It was right about the onset of the 11th episode that the already noxious MDL drama pages on some past dramas got really bad. So I was kind of expecting this.
2 more episodes to go and we can start composing final reviews.
Yea as I mentioned earlier, this comment section is kinda like a cutie pie haters community; they only point out…
Hey, it's all good.
That page's Comments section was pretty hairy. Same sort of manipulative, toxic poster as JollyGolly. Just several more of them. It was like a farm of noxious personalities to deal with.
So I get why you didn't feel like it was worth it posting there.
One of the things I actively had to combat there was the deliberate and organized discouragement of people who liked the show. It was like boot camp for dealing with this place. And a lot of more passive posters got harassed. I did a lot of battling. JaydeeJay did too. It took a lot to get some of the people to hang in there. And many more decided it wasn't worth it. But if you've seen BenieJ posting, that took a while. He was hit pretty hard with the intimidation tactics and so every time he sasses someone I cheer him. I love seeing that he's got the confidence to fight back.
I guess what I wanted to say is that I didn't know you yet, and I'm sorry I didn't get to know you then. But I'm glad I got to know you now.
Today JollyGolly, and Oski, both came at me with challenges based on two different MDL drama pages I've participated on in the recent past. Each trying to sucker me into the same kind of conversation. Both challenges came right about the same time. And since my posts apparently cause them so much distress, time to do the compassionate thing and block both their asses.
Oh, we go through this every week. Every week a new episode comes down and we all post varied remarks about it.…
If only the vague link to music was the actual reason... But it wasn't.
Oski was hoping (but ultimately failed) to create a bridge between my reaction to Kinn's rape of Porsche last week and the way I post about Cutie Pie's toxicity. Notice how they purposefully insisted on defining the rape that happened in last week's episode as "toxic". When I called them out on it, they insisted again it was all the same thing. And both Mike and I specified the difference. At which point their attempt died out.
They were trying to force me to admit to a correlation between my opinions on KP and those of CP.
Oski is part of the "If you don't like a drama, drop it" crowd. And I dropped KinnPorsche. So they were hoping to prove I treated the shows inconsistently by tricking me into saying I dropped KinnPorsche for its toxicity, but am still watching Cutie Pie despite its toxicity.
What ultimately doomed their attempt, besides the fact that I'm not stupid, is that I didn't drop Kinn Porsche because it had toxic elements. Or even because it had a rape in it. I dropped KinnPorsche for the singular reason that the rape was treated in context like it was erotic and romantic.
Oski's cohort JollyGolly tried the same thing further down when I objected to their demeaning conversation about people who post their dislike of the show. That was quite the dance of watching a narcissist employ like 4 or 5 different textbook tactics from the toxic manipulation manual. And one of them involved OP suddenly being "interested" by me in a ham-fisted attempt at redirection using my opinions on Gen Y 2 in the conversation.
All of this work, just to avoid accepting the idea that everyone should be allowed to post here about the show, no matter their opinions.
Let's take what some folks are saying (the "if you don't like it, drop it"/"if you keep watching it anyway, you…
This is a wonderful dismantling of one of the more common logical fallacies used to attack the idea that everyone has an equal right here to post their opinions on the shows.
Yea as I mentioned earlier, this comment section is kinda like a cutie pie haters community; they only point out…
Prickly is posting complaining about the opinions of others regarding Cutie Pie. Your posts have been prickly and denigrating. So really one should be asking why you're that way. Not that I presume you know.
And you can shelf the "I am intrigued by a human..." condescending bullshit, as though I'm a strange specimen.
As for my humor, I joke about myself to my friends all the time. But you and I aren't friends. So you don't get to experience that privilege.
On the topic of Geny Y 2, like this show there was a strong hate or love polarization of it's user contingent on the pages. Like this page, one side was simply interested in posting their views, the other side was intent upon silencing them. It was an opposite arrangement, though, with the people who hated Gen Y 2 bullying or harassing people who showed appreciation for any element of the drama. Even threatening some of us.
I made my standard weekly review post. Some of them were more than 4000 words long, so don't get impressed by the 2000 word one. And I did a lot of championing of the right for everyone to be able to post their views on the MDL page. Sound familiar? Here's a clue, if I'm having to remind you that we all have a right to be here, you are part of the problem.
I found some aspects of Gen Y frustrating and others very charming. My overall opinion on why I like any show is particular to that drama. Why I like something is far more organic than the terms upon which I dislike a drama.
If you really want to know how I felt about Gen Y 2, then read back and find my weekly reviews. Some of them are very detailed feedback posts where I go scene by scene. Some are very generalized breakdowns of highlight moments. But they would give you the complete answer you profess to wanting and it's better you go there since this isn't the place for a breakdown of another drama's merits/faults.
Eh, it keeps fluctuating somewhere in the 7.9 - 8.8 range since it started. I think there was a very very brief…
Haha! Sista!
Fantasy, Sci-fi and historical fiction like robin hood and Arthurian tales ruined me for ever sitting quiet while someone is being picked on. Especially Lloyd Alexander and Susan Cooper and Howard Pyle. And Guy Gavriel Kay. And Micheal Moorcock... oh shit. And Luis McMaster Bujold. And Issac Asimov. Wuxia dramas did NOT help. The Untamed ruined any chance that I would ever stand down like...ever.
So many writers who brought me the message that a lone voice, determined and brave enough, can win the day. I'm ruined as a practical human being. LOL
Eh, it keeps fluctuating somewhere in the 7.9 - 8.8 range since it started. I think there was a very very brief…
I'm the same! I met two very excellent friends on MDL that I watch a lot of my BL's with and we post as we watch, on our Discord group. And I've made at least 10 or so casual friends on MDL that I keep in touch with outside of that. Plus people like Mike, who I just love going back and forth with. MDL can be a good place to meet online friends.
But I'm one of those die hard optimists who keeps thinking if I stand up to enough people attacking others, or defend enough peoples' rights to post on a specific page, all while sharing my own POV, one day things might calm down. It never calms down. LOL
The idea that I or any one person can actually influence things for the better is a very arrogant way to approach things, in its own way--if kind of from a romantic standpoint. But growing up on medieval classics where someone changes the fabric of things by being righteous rubbed off on me a bit. So I'm bad at walking away from trouble, sometimes.
Eh, it keeps fluctuating somewhere in the 7.9 - 8.8 range since it started. I think there was a very very brief…
It's been a hot minute, so I don't remember the drama about the porn accusations. LOL! But I do recall the dog-piling on top of anyone who so much as mentioned that someone's hair was off that episode. And eventually everyone who disliked one aspect or another of the drama just got tired of not being able to post without being attacked. So they trickled away.
Eh, it keeps fluctuating somewhere in the 7.9 - 8.8 range since it started. I think there was a very very brief…
Ah, polarization. I get you. Some shows be like that, yeah. I grew up thinking of Tom and Jerry more as a farcical chase scenario. So I didn't understand what was being inferred by the use of the analogy. My bad.
And I feel you. I actually got harassed behind scenes for my appreciation for a show amid a sea of haters. And yes, for me too, it was complete with threats and name calling. The name calling up front, the threats via DM. The person involved was removed by MDL's mods.
Also I agree that civil discussion is important when you step onto another person's post, when it involves critiquing the show. Because everyone's opinion has a place. But when it involves addressing posts that are attacks, naw. Imma be frank AF if I bother to get involved.
As for Bad Buddy, it was one of those pages where if you loved the show, you were good. But if you dislike anything, even mildly, the attack was insane. Much worse than here. Honestly, it was bad enough that I still am gun-shy until I get to know someone if they admit they really, really loved Bad Buddy. One poster was really bad about gathering large posses to go through the official reviews in order to give wide spread "thumbs downs" to any reviews that were critical of the drama, in order to lower their place in the hierarchy based upon "usefulness". I mean... petty much?
Okay, the report I sent in to Support got the job done, apparently. As now you can search for Cutie Pie again.
(Clutches Pearls) *gasp* We can't be friends again! (Don't worry, I do this to JayDeeJay at least every week.)
And it is SO deep. So deep you can't swim there. 2009 Kpop is an ocean of deep stuff! (It also might have been the year Jay Park got himself ousted for having opinions and then proved he was too hot for S.Korea to stop.)
As for Trinity, Try the song "Haters Got Nothing".
It may hold steady here for a while, as it did at the 8.2 mark for a while. And it may fluctuate again. Given…
All forms of art are indeed open to interpretation and personal taste. That's kind of been my platform here when posting in defense of users who want to share unfavorable reviews of Cutie Pie on MDL.
Plus I'm a professional artist. So I kind of have to be plugged into that idea.
Yea as I mentioned earlier, this comment section is kinda like a cutie pie haters community; they only point out…
--"Hilarious. You actually made me laugh out loud. "--
I can' t be that shit at jokes. According to your previous post, I made you laugh out loud.
At least 2 other users clocked the sarcasm. So yes, you're bad at it unless it's so blatant it's smacking you in the face.
And since by your own action of posting a reasonably detailed criticism of the drama, you are also by definition bad at Irony. Since your original post was complaining about people who criticize the show.
It may hold steady here for a while, as it did at the 8.2 mark for a while. And it may fluctuate again. Given that the ratings here on MDL aren't an actual reflection of quality, I never really care about them.
2 more episodes to go and we can start composing final reviews.

Nicely done!
But so true.

PLus, dammit, I just love a good debate.

Hence bad at irony and sarcasm. Just like I said.
