That's bs. Things getting interesting in mortal world, Former god of war become compelling character. IDK what…
I guess we just have different opinions. Even tho I liked the idea of them in the mortal world, the plot with the "fake marriage" was not doing it for me. But I liked Dongfang and Xiao Runs's bromance. The best part of mortal world for me.
And Former God of war and Rong Hao's ending was kinda ridiculous for me. Rong Hao was evil to the bone but they even had him buried with his master, gave him a beautiful burial site and had a drink/toast on him ._. I didn't really get attached to character of former God of War...
As someone who watched many xianxias (and most of popular ones), if you think LBFAD is draggy and illogical, it's…
Thank you for your honest opinion and insides of Xianxia dramas! As much as I like the world of Xianxia dramas, it seems it's not my genre to watch. It's good to know opinions of people who watched a wide range of Xianxia. π I really enjoyed historical Chinese drama "The Long Ballad". I was hoping to find similar drama with fantasy elements, but I will stick to the non-fantasy dramas then π€
Xinxia isn't my cup of tea either, its always really long episodes of unnecessary drama with 40+ eps, and its…
I liked this drama overall, but was not so impressed by it. I finished it, but had a huge urge to skip a lot of scenes (tho I didn't), because the side stories/characters bored me or some scenes were just over the top. The main story arc was actually good. I also loved the ML and that he was a "villain". The FL was kinda frustrating tho, but I still liked her with the ML and they had good chemistry.
But as a drama with this high rating, I just expected... more? And I'm wondering if this drama is considered a really good Xianxia drama, because then I don't think this genre is something I'm looking forward in the future. It's just sad, because the worlds created in Xianxia are actually fascinating, but usually the stories get really draggy or there are immense annoying side characters/ arcs.
You seem to have watched a lot of Xianxia dramas, so I think you're right :) Seems like it's not my genre after all. Quite sad tho, because I do like the Xianxia fantasy worlds. Can I still ask what your alltime favourite Xianxia drama is?
Hmm... just finished the whole drama now and was not really impressed. I enjoyed the first 10 episodes a lot. My favorite episodes were definitely ep 9 and 10. Those were really cool and exciting, still love to rewatch that scene where Dongfang saved Orchid in ep 9. That scene was amazing!... but afterwards the drama went downhill for me. Everything was kinda messy, illogical, lots of fillers and over the top plot twists/holes. Besides the main leads story I couldn't really get into the side characters with their stories. Orchid was also annoying most of the time, but I was kinda expecting it, because sadly a lot of Chinese dramas don't have likable female leads. The main story is actually really good and clever and totally a plot I'm digging, but I felt the story was dragged most of the time and wtf was that ending? I mean... I know with fantasy everything can happen, also a "wonder"... but I don't know... I feel so belittled as a viewer with that kind of ending.
Real honest question to avid Xianxia fans: As I love fantasy worlds, I tried several Xianxia dramas, but none of them could actually get me hooked throughout the drama. Most of them I dropped. This drama has a really high rating in MDL, so I had maybe too high expectations... but is this the standard I can expect of Chinese Xianxia dramas? Because if it is, then maybe Xianxia dramas are really not for me and I should give up to like them...
How is this drama so far? The comments are just gushing over the ML, so I don't know if I should start it just for eye candy π Is the story good or are the characters enjoyable tho?
Just rewatched this drama after two years. I can say this drama still brings all those emotions back which I felt when I watched it while it aired. For sure still one of my favorite dramas of all times. Be it Korean, Japanese, American, Chinese etc. I've watched a lot of drama from a variety of countries in my life and this drama is surely in my top 3. It's so well written and the characters are so relatable. I laugh, I cry, I felt anger, happiness... The perfect slice of life drama for sure. This is also my absolute favorite Chinese drama. Sadly there is no other Chinese drama which can even compete with this. I still love it as much as I did two years ago β€οΈ
Ugh...just couldn't finish episode 2... had to stop and come here to rant because I can't stand any of the town people. How is it even possible to write so many distasteful and annoying characters?
The ML is the only sane and good character here and is described as a jerk and rude by those shitty town people? how? wtf...He's completely reasonable, has a lot of patience and is really polite. He also did right at educating that little kid not to trespass others property, but that annoying of a "cop" claimed he was scolding the kid unfairly. The FL is really annoying. I can't stand her fake smiling/laughing, immature behavior and stalking attitude. And what is actually her job? Definitely not a cop... they trying to make her a version of Hong Banjang of Hometown Cha Cha Cha? Sorry Joy, I love you, but I can't stand your role...
And it was definitely the last straw for me when the SML said that ML was a jerk because he politely refused their offer to tour the town with them. Just how? The ML may seem not approachable, but can someone blame him? The town people are horrible and intrusive, Still the ML was always polite and never rude in any way. He seems to be kind of an introvert as well, so I can relate to him even more, For introverts those people are the worst!
Have a big urge to skip a lot of scenes.... will finish episode 2, but I won't watch any further as of now. This drama did enough to annoy the heck out of me and it were just two episodes with 30 min each lol The writers sure know how to rub u in the wrong way..
I wonder where Jang Uk's binding bracelet is now? I think I missed something. It's an important object, shown…
He lost it while he fought with Gil Ju that time he attempted to soulshift into Jang Uk's body. And then Yul found it and returned it to Jang Uk. After that it was nowhere seen anymore. Maybe he returned it to Jinwoyon since he didn't need it anymore.
The first episode was okay. It was not boring, but most of the characters were annoying... first: it's never good to make "pranks" about death. He could've gotten into an accident while driving to the town in a rush thinking his grandpa is dying ._. secondly...why are country people always portrayed as so intrusive, annoying and don't care for personal space. Sorry, but they just don't have manners. You just can't treat people like that. third... Joy's character really irked me. Even if she does know him from childhood (seems to be the typical childhood crush trope), he obviously doesn't remember her. The way she came so close to him while talking, touching and staring at him, was so creepy.
I like the ML so far tho. The others... not really... But it was just the first episode, so I'm gonna continue :)
I like the FL already :) She's headstrong, crazy and has a unique fashion sense :D The first episode was enjoyable, but it's still too soon to say, if it's gonna catch me. As of now the plot is pretty mediocre and predictable... but as said, still enjoyed the first episode.
Jae wook gets to get rid of his long hair, he hates itππ but I love it especially with that cute little…
I also prefer his hairstyle from the beginning. He looked really good with longer hair and a ponytail :D But he's actually handsome with any hair, so I don't really care π
A lot of fans are saying one of them, Uk and Naksu is going to lose memory in part 2 π€§π€§How do you think…
Amnesia would be horrible and I hope they're not going that route. It's an easy way to continue the story without being creative. It's a "go to" plot for a lot of kdramas... I think I'd hate the Hong writers for life and never start a drama of them again, if they decide to be this shitty...
There are many dramas, when the first 1ML was less attractive than than 2ML in the eyes of the majority, but with…
I agree! I hope they write the ML's character really good! Because Kang Hae Jin is really charismatic and I'm sure he can easily overshadow the main actor... Sorry Go Kyung Pyo. You're gorgeous but there is just something missing in your acting.
I'm so excited for part 2!!!!! Rewatching Naksu's beginning scenes so I'm getting used to her face and getting into the mood for part 2 π Also watched some of GYJ's scenes in Sweet Home and I'm looking forward of her version of Naksu. I liked her acting in that one and I didn't even know she's still new in the industry and I didn't realize that I actually watched her in her debut drama "He is psychometric" π And LJW first role was also just a year before hers. We have some golden actors/actresses for the future! π
I also hope the comment section here calms down slowly. I can understand everyone is sad and disappointed, because who did not love Mudeok?! We all did and I fully understand viewers who are heartbroken. The last episode is still piercing my heart. I shouldn't get to attached to dramas characters... it's not good for my health π₯ I'm still a little bit sceptical how it's gonna resume without Jung So Min, but I'm trying to go into part 2 without bitter feelings. Maybe the time until December will heal our broken hearts and let us be ready for something new β€οΈ
I'm also not really into the other dramas airing right now, even tho I do watch them, I'm not really into them... Not sure what to do the next few months... I hate winter but I can't wait for December now! π
Your English is perfect πThat's what I understand too. Only Ice Stone and Hwansu could help a soul-shifter…
Their whole "You die, I die and I die, you die" conversations we had of them kinda make me feel that the writers will pull exactly shit like that... tbh I find that kind of ending so uncreative... especially bcus Hong Writers didn't have any happy endings in their latest dramas and they can't seem to get over that trope -_-
And Former God of war and Rong Hao's ending was kinda ridiculous for me. Rong Hao was evil to the bone but they even had him buried with his master, gave him a beautiful burial site and had a drink/toast on him ._.

Why so many Park Bo Gum haters in the comments? He's a great actor... You should watch him in Hello Monster... Still my favourite role of his :D
Poor sonny and Gyeo Re T-T
