I really enjoyed the first two eps! :D I'm so excited for next episodes!!! ❤️
Also watching the first episode, I thought I was delulu by shipping Yeong with Do Won, but maybe I'm not?! Their chemistry is so good! And the way Yeong looked at him after he stood up for her in that OP room... Was that just respect and gratefulness?? No way, she had hearts all over her face lol Literally, Go Youn Jung's eyes were so dreamy in that scene haha
There are worse things happening in the world such as genocides and people gleefully celebrating them. Some people…
Okay?
Sure, there are more serious issues in the world... no argument there. But we’re on a drama discussion platform, not an international news forum. Pointing out how quick people are to judge a show based on ONE episode isn’t me equating it to global tragedies, it’s just an observation about this specific community and how hasty some can be.
People are absolutely free to rate however they like, but I can still find it a bit premature and say so. Both things can coexist without downplaying real-world problems.
At the end of the day, we’re all just here to share thoughts on dramas. A little kindness and patience, both with shows and with each other, wouldn’t hurt.
Go Youn Jung is really ultra pretty, especially her eyes! So big and sparkly! Definitely those melo-eyes that I really love, when actors have them haha ❤️
I think it would've been way more entertaining if it was actually ambiguous who she ends up with out of all four leading men. But with all the clichés going on, it's pretty obvious, which is a bit of a bum. It would've been cool if they did it "Reply series" style, where you have to wait eagerly until almost the last episode to find out.
But two male leads are already out of the picture, because they "literally" are out of the picture (not included in the drama's promo cover) lol
And the other two have those distinct cliché personalities, so we all pretty much know which type of character the FL usually ends up with. It's clearly going to be Hwang Jae Yeol. Classic "enemies to lovers" setup, while Cha Ji Won is the typical nice 2nd lead.
But if this drama actually surprises me and she ends up with someone else, I’ll definitely give it an extra star on top haha
Well, judging by the synopsis and everything, we already knew this drama was going to be super superficial. But so are we, because let's be honest, the only reason we're watching is the good-looking cast. The story is definitely not the reason lol
The script probably sat in someone's drafts for the past 20 years. Story-wise, it feels like something straight out of the early 2000s. Fluffy, cringy and cheesy. You’ve just got to be in the right mood for that haha
And if you're in the mood for that, then it's quite enjoyable and entertaining :D
People are just so negative and judgmental these days. They don’t even give a drama the time to unfold. I find it pretty odd that around 260 viewers already rated it after watching only the first episode, but hey, to each their own. After being on MDL for so long, I’ve learned not to take the ratings here too seriously anyway.
Personally, I enjoyed ep. 1. I thought it offered a nice glimpse into each of the main characters and their personalities, so it was a solid introduction for me.
And honestly, I’m not going to compare their friendship chemistry to the HP 99s, because it’s just not the same, nor is it meant to be. If people are coming in expecting that kind of humor and deep bond, they might want to check back when these residents have been friends for 20+ years lol The dynamic is different and that’s totally fine.
I want to start this, but I have a question. Is it true that Ren Jia Lun doesn't do any kiss scenes in recent dramas? Not that I necessarily need kiss scenes, but in romance dramas, I tend to hope for some 😅 I just don't want to get my hopes up...
Yeah, I felt the same about the Xing Mo–Aunt romance. Honestly, I think the actress was miscast as a romantic…
Is Han Jia Lin supposed to be in her early 40s? Maybe I missed it, but I thought they never told us her age... I assumed she was supposed to be older. At least late 40s...
I don't know why but I feel actress Zeng Li would've been perfect lol She looks even similar to Han Yi Jing and have the same vibe. Feel like she could've passed as her real aunt. She's 48, but could pass for early 40s imo :)
Well, it is how it is now. At least they didn't focus too much on that couple haha
Hmm... I’m on episode 3 and I’m having a hard time getting into it 😅 I was expecting more grounded, realistic characters, especially for a drama/slice-of-life Chinese Drama, but the characters here feel really over-the-top and almost cartoonish. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but they feel more like actual movie characters than real people lol I know they are, but I can't get invested in them that way... haha Don't know how to explain... Maybe that’s intentional, but what I usually love about slice-of-life C-Dramas is how relatable and authentic the characters are, so this kinda threw me off, I guess... But I do like the leads crazy personalities lol But still something just doesn't click with me ...
I can imagine the story might take a more angsty turn later on and the tone could shift, but I’m not sure if the characters will ever stop feeling a bit... over-the-top? Does anyone else feel the same way?
While I do believe this is the vibe the production was going for... but maybe that's just not my cup of tea.
Just finished it :D Overall, it was pretty enjoyable! There were some cute, sad, lovely and funny moments throughout. I especially loved the main couple. They had great chemistry and stayed strong, mature and communicative the whole time they were together. No unnecessary misunderstandings, which was super refreshing. I'd definitely recommend it if you're in the mood for a chill drama with a really sweet main couple. Though I have to say, their beginning was a bit rocky...
The whole modeling storyline wasn't that interesting for me tho. I found the family aspect much more engaging. And maybe it's just me, but aside from Han Yi Jing, none of the models really gave off that "model" vibe. I just didn’t feel it, but then again, I’m not into modeling, so maybe I’m missing something there.
As for the Aunt and Xing Mo romance... yeah, I couldn’t really get behind it. I’ve got nothing against age-gap couples, but aside from her looking way much older than him, her attitude felt way too cold. While I understand her behaviour... but i just couldnt ship them... Also visually they just didn’t click for me. We don’t know the actress's age, but I’m pretty sure she’s in her 50s — which would make the age gap 20+ years. That’s a bit much for my taste, but hey, love falls where it falls, right? As long as both parties have reached legal age, of course!
I’ve been so busy, but I finally caught up on the last 20-ish episodes and wow, this drama is so good and entertaining?! I honestly don’t get why it has such a relatively low rating… but anyway, I’m loving it!! 😄 And binge-watching so many episodes in one go was such a joy. As someone who usually watches on-going dramas, this felt like such a treat haha
I put this on hold for some time because after ep. 2 I just couldn't get into it. (I know ep. 2 is way too early to decide lol)... But now I'm continuing and on ep. 3, I feel things are slowly picking up :D
Kind of cute how Yuan Zhong thinks he got an admirer in Ji Tan Yin lol And she's actually just too soft and pity him haha

Also Crushology 101 having higher rating than RP is everything you need to know about ratings on MDL haha 😂

Ji Tanyin is so kind and lovely. I feel bad that they're using her goddess name in such a way.
"Does reading so many books help you?"
"Of course. Books are like medicine. Reading them can dispel ignorance."
Kind of cute how Yuan Zhong thinks he got an admirer in Ji Tan Yin lol And she's actually just too soft and pity him haha
