You're not alone, the main leads story is just the genetic noona romance nothing special. I agree with you on…
Is it bad writing, is it bad acting, I don't even know, but this character could have been so much more! I didn't even realise the transition from being hurt, then being angry, then going through grief and then supposedly returning SH's feelings -- I couldn't feel all that at all in order to warm up to her. I'm leaning towards thinking that it's probably the acting, because some other actress might have at least expressed all that with body language or facial expressions, but all she manages to convey is a lifeless, emotionless woman. So I definitely agree with you that she brings nothing exciting and the only thing I can think of when she's on, is how long it'll be before she goes away and someone else will appear: the rest of the characters are interesting. The second sister's story makes me all emotional, the eldest one with the manager make an adorable couple and I love their scenes, and the jerk ex and his former fiance also intrigue me as to what's going to happen to them. The only one I don't care about is her, and consequently (to my chagrin because I like him), HS as well. I love his scenes with his sisters and his niece, and at the workplace, but with her, I now just get bored.
I loved this drama when it started and was ready to fight all those people that were whining in here about HS being toxic or whatever else it is they supposedly saw in just two episodes. But unfortunately, I don't even feel like watching anymore, whereas for the first three weeks, I was looking forward to new episodes! I can't like the female lead and I don't know if it's the character or the actress I'm having issues with. There's just nothing lovable about her and I can't even tell what her real feelings are or what she really wants. On the contrary, HS's both sisters are much more lovable and I find myself only paying attention to their scenes, instead of the lead couple. Hell, even the manager's psycho sister is more interesting to me - I care about whatever it is that happens to her. With SA, I find myself unable to care at all.
I regret to say that this has been a major disappointment, I loved it at first and something happened in the middle that just made my interest for the main couple drop to non-existent. I will finish it though because all the other characters are engaging, so it's not a bad drama. It just failed to provide with a good main couple, IMO. And I blame the girl for that and her incredibly bland personality (or lack thereof).
I'm surprised you even find dramas to complete. I don't start a drama if I feel like it's not going to be it for me, and I'll only drop it if I've given it enough chance but it still fails to hold my attention, -- it doesn't happen very often. Seems to me you get drop-happy without even fast forwarding a bit to see if things get better. I can't jump on this bandwagon, but kudos to you if that's how you roll.
Wow, ratings went down from 8.5 to 7.9 but most of the comments are pretty okay. Wonder if it's because people…
MDL ratings are so stupid sometimes, I've learnt to not even pay attention. Some people rate low without even having watched the show, just because they got pissed off with casting or idk what else. Petty as heck.
I can't even imagine how another drama could ever surpass the last episode of this one. I loved the whole drama to bits and it was an amazing journey, but the last ep... I have no words. TWO of my favourite couples, together side by side. I couldn't be more satisfied, it was absolutely perfect. Probably my favourite cdrama, ever.
I’m nervous about the fight but glad it won’t last long.
In the novel it only lasts for a while and he was feeling terrible about it. They made up after he showed her that he loved her since he was a boy, in a very Wu Bai fasion of saying little but acting a lot - they never actually break up
Which one do you think is better: Go Go Squid or Dt. Appledog's Time?
Dt. Appledog's Time because of casting/storyline, but I loved Go Go Squid as well. I think they're both worth watching and I love the universe they're placed in.
My heart broke for Wu Bai when he lost, even though I knew he would. In the end though, he's the one that has the girl and poor Solo doesn't have anyone anymore, so let him at least have the joy of retaining his myth to his fans. I almost felt sorry for him - it's sad that he doesn't have any love interest, lol. A new girl for Solo please, so he'll leave Wu Bai's girl alone too.
There are certain things that go along with the novel, and some that don't. For example, the eyes thing isn't there in the novel at all. I think they added it for some extra drama and to explain his absence a bit better for those three years, but I didn't think it'd make a come back... I hope they won't make it /too/ dramatic, but just the right amount for him to get extra love, in which case, I'm all in favour.
I saw the preview of next ep and it seems they completely toned down their fight as well, which I'm so, SO grateful for. In the novel, when Wu Bai got jealous, he got all territorial and tried to sleep with her and she got pissed off and even told him she doesn't want to before marriage. Then she softened up though and realised it was him being insecure and jealous, and they made up, with Ai Qing feeling that he manipulated her again into feeling like she was the bully, when she was supposedly the victim of the fight. LOL, I love their interactions both in the novel and in the drama, they're fun.
I'm so glad they added Friday on the airing episodes, but at the same time... this means we're getting close to the finale and I'm just not ready yet. T_T
You should just download the epub of the books in the order I gave you above, then it's less confusing. I don't read them online, I downloaded them, finished book 1 which is quite small, today I finished book 2 and I'm so satisfied, it was good!
Book 1 is like an introduction of their backgrounds, how they met, and their first interactions. Book 2 is almost five times as big and among their individual stories and all the other characters, it's all about how they became a couple. The drama has made changes enough for me to still be curious about it because I don't know what they will keep and what they will change - so far they've changed a lot, but not in a bad way, I like the drama version equally. They are both a lot younger in the novels, DT started liking her at 12 (?! lol). And when they become a couple she's 25 and he's 22. You should try reading them, it's a pleasant read and it's nice to see how smitten DT was with her for so many years.

Most perfect public declaration of love, ever.
