Taking into consideration the episodes limit and the book ,they HV honestly done a pretty good job for an adaptation with minor flaws and HV managed to make a lot of characters shine even with little screen time

I think that would HV been great but they filmed this during the time when episode limit is 40 and two seasons per drama were discouraged with a requirement of almost one Year gap in airing time between season.
