There's been about 6 months of "Unregistered Single-person agency"reports, after the govt announced a crackdown, and a grace period to get your paperwork in *being Dec 31. I think there will be more of these types of stories in 2026, naming further K-celebrities, as the govt. continues its audit process. "Rumors surfaced" and "reports circulated" on Jan 29th. Don't you just love these kinds of non-descript…
I remember those 'reports' on the day! So weird that it's a story again now, almost a year later! AND that so many commenters run with the negative and are happy to drive hate. I'll take your Peace and add Live and Love!
Can you blame them for this kind of behavior? The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has profoundly altered the character…
This; "In her case she gets hate for her acting, so any incident will be like they were waiting for something to happen." I agree with. But I think you may have swallowed the "The CCP and therefore China, is bad", propagandah. Sorry if this comes off as mean or judgey but citing 1 example, in order to make massive generalisations about a society, is a bit limited. It's worth putting those biases aside to try to see a culture from within, rather than from how your own culture is telling you who or what "they" are.
Honestly feel like this is the most accurate depiction of teachers and a general staff-room/teacher's office, I have ever seen in K-dramaland! It has been a while...since I've worked as a teacher but these teacher characters are VERY familiar to me. ALL of them!
I’m midway through the drama where do ra mi takes over her body. I’m really liking this except I can’t get…
I am definitely putting the psychosis (and my frustration) aside too. It's coming across as 100% plot device...and it's the Hong sisters. So I'm telling myself it's 'magical realism'. For now.
In an interesting co-incidence, I JUST finished watching the Aurora episode and we're heading out shortly to try to capture the Southern Aurora... It's times like this, I wish I weren't such a nihilist and could believe it was a double lucky sign 😅
It's hard to fathom from an outside perspective but when you consider that "Affirmative Consent" (i.e. enthusiastic and ongoing YES to Sex) only exists as a law in a few nations (about half of Europe, Canada, Aust, NZ) it represents a very widespread view that if you're not yelling and screaming and fighting...you must've wanted it. So really you should've just said yes.
She was also basically told by the judge that she should have consented! Not bad enough that her silence in the moment was considered consent. Such a brutal system. Regardless of whether anyone thinks he was proved innocent, I would never want any females I know, working with him. The case definitely and very publicly, proved he did not care for the woman's experience, or feelings AT ALL.
Purely for my curiosity...can you give me some examples of the pro China propaganda you mentioned? I'm only at…
I thought the mum having an unpleasant time in the US, was more a statement that their son was very unfilial, rather than 'China is better than US'. And the other examples came off much more as patriotic to me, rather than propaganda, but thanks so much for clarifying! It's genuinely so interesting to me, how we can watch the same scenes and have really, very different perspectives. And I love having a site like MDL to chat about it. Thankyou!
What a sweet enjoyable drama. No rushed ending. I’m still grinning just thinking about the progression of their…

Waiting for the day that Makers make more fictional realistic male character dramas instead of the green flags…
Personally, I'm the opposite. I'm waiting for IRL people to experience personal growth and become green flags. I see these fictional dramas as the examples of positive modelling that people need. I wish more people would watch them and learn - humans tend to need to see it in order to be it. But in saying that, I might somewhat agree with you if say; dramas started with very realistic characters, who then underwent massive character growth, to become green flags. I'd watch the hell out of that.
Badass Bunny, I LOVE your editorials. Please keep doing them! I also respect your opinion here. You actually made me contemplate the idea of tone deafness and performance. And consequently question myself. For days TBH. I read this on the first day it popped into my feed, and I've been contemplating since (day 6 now) and I have to be honest with myself...I am a complete a-hole when it comes to tone-deafness. I am not at all qualified to judge - my music training is mid. I have it...multi instrument but not to a pro level. I was never going to make a profession of it (for reasons mostly associated with my upbringing and what was considered an aceptable profession) But I'm definitely a pretentious wan*@r when it comes to pitch. I love how accepting and open and respectful you are. But pairing my pitch issues, with my general loathing of all things "Reality TV", it's a big NOPE from me. I will probably track down the videos, to experience the sense of kidness and quiet joy you convey towards the performers. But I might have to mute
