It's certainly not legal in Australia but discrimination because you are 'female and of childbearing age' is very real. It's just done in a very underhand way to avoid being sued. And your job becoming suddenly 'redundant' (a legal way to get rid of an employee) whilst you're on maternity leave, happens A LOT! Because I can relate to that situation, I'm choosing to interpret it from that point of view 🤷

I agree it's more like ep4 that he starts to thaw. I think Yang Hua is a character that represents the 'lying flat' generation they're talking of a lot, in China. We know he's had some kind of bad experience with a previous workplace and social situations. He's just doing the bare minimum to survive within his environment, when he encounters Qin Shi.
My take is not that he's cold so much as just exhausted. (As I write this I realise I might be projecting 😬) Qin Shi behaves just like everybody else he's experienced - she's a bit unethical and self serving. But as he gets to see her properly in action, and sees her actual motivations, he starts to thaw, and IMO, come to life a bit.

I have never understood (at all) the whole "puppy" description in dramas, until this! 🤣 It certainly speaks for Wang An Yu's acting potential, if that was the direction he was given! It's surprisingly charming. And I love a cheeky FL character. So much to enjoy!

I have the same frustration in my region, about Viki, Netflix, Amazon...you have to put in multiple requests for shows to be licensed in the area, and it's often long after airing.

I hope you enjoy the above 2 dranas, when you can see them. 'May it please the court' is not the greatest name - I wouldn't characterise it as a court drama.

If you're interested in K-dramas, I would argue they have 2 of the best to have aired this year: "Shadow Detective," is well worth watching. And "May It Please The Court", is also one good drama.

I feel like a lot of people complain about Disney here on MDL, but considering they've invested billions in the production of shows throughout Asia, that otherwise I would not get to view, I quite like them.

Oh no! I haven't seen ep4 yet, but I had very high hopes from Ep2. Just based on the conversation in the gym, between the ML and his best friend - to "...see it from a woman's perspective". I'm going to keep watching in the hope they address what you've raised further on!!

Actually, I agree that it was deserved...I find how much I empathise with him, to be harrowing. And even though I know there's a happy ending, it still hits me. Every time

This is one of my favourite Kdramas of all time. IMO it is WELL worth watching. But as a warning; it is a slow pace compared with most KDramas and there is NO romance. It does have a very satisfying ending and the cast line-up is stellar! It is fundamentally about relationships but not romantic ones...
[There is a whole fan and discussion group who want it to be romantic but IMO they're completely missing the point...when will viewers accept that males and females can be friends!?!]

Rewatching for the first time....I love this so much, I haven't needed to rewatch until now!

Only watched 4 eps so far. And yes I am taking this far too seriously!! But for crying out loud, he obviously should be a multi-eventer (decathlon) not just a high jump specialist. It's making me doubt the capabilities of all of the coaches!

I grew up in this world (Athletics/Track and Field) and whilst I agree with you that he's over the top, I think it's ABSOLUTELY realistic. To me he's playing a VERY recognisable character. That 'cockiness' is spot on - Athletics is filled to the brim with this kind of personality. I think; to be an elite athlete, being a 'performer' is as necessary as being hyper-competitive. Natural talent (e.g. his lack of height) is the least necessary element.
