My guess then is that someone messed with his memories of YD aka the b**** Ying Deng or maybe the Heavenly Emperor... The rest of his memories might be all intact.

My advise is just don't react. Then you can't feed his provocation. He's looking for that reaction and is most likely enjoying it. So don't give him what he wants.

Problem with that assumption is that the trailers explicitly state that he will retain his memories as he is investigating what happened during the previous demon-heaven wars for the heavenly emperor. Unless, something goes wrong in the process of descending into the mortal realm, but the fact he's using his powers to flip a turtle (he's so mean to the poor turtle XD) makes me think otherwise. Also there is a scene where YD stabs TZ and TZ in his head (lol they should just communicate properly) acknowledges that he owes YD.

I think they both have their memories but neither tells the other that they remember while in the mortal realm. Furthermore, TZ thinks he successfully erased YD's memory of him, and YD most likely presumes that TZ has no memory cause that's the norm for those doing trials in the mortal realm. This is just a guess based on an upcoming episode trailer, I have never read the book.

I agree with what you say. My problem is that JYH essentially changes from lying and manipulating CY to gain her freedom to 'falling in love' in like 4-5 episodes. CY's love was also too straight forwardly innocent. He just bursts out 'I love you' without having really gotten to know JYH. I personally don't understand how you can love someone when you don't intimately understand and know the other individual. The pace and development of the foundation for their 'epic love' just felt too rushed and unconvincing. The lack of chemistry between Dilraba and Ren just made things even more implausible.

Hope you watch it when you get the chance then. 😊 I actually found the ML too innocent and one dimensional for my taste, especially during part 1. He does get better during part 2 but unfortunately I just love a bad boy more. Lin Hao Qing was so much more interesting to me. Also (shallow I know) but to me he looks more handsome. 🤭 The ml has better projects, in my opinion, like Under the Power or One and Only are both good (he also had way more chemistry with his co-stars in them). I do admit that he’s an amazing actor at conveying emotions with his eyes (reminds me of Zhu Yi Long in that aspect), but sadly his performance was underwhelming to me. He also has this really interesting drama coming up Thousand Years For You, supposedly it's coming out this year but there's no exact date yet on MDL.
Unfortunately yes, good xianxia is rather hard to come by and lately there hasn't been much coming out. The bar has been set rather high with the dramas you mentioned. Love and Redemption is another one to watch if you're interested. Hopefully there will be better ones in the future to come.

Exactly! Pretty much nothing new or surprising plot wise happened and everyone, except for Shunde, of course has character immunity to death (only Lin She actually 'dies'). Have you watch the Long Ballad? lol I feel like I recommend this drama a lot cause I really love it flaws and all. I quite liked the fl there. I honestly haven't liked a lot of the characters she acts as, Feng Jiu was my least favourite character in eternal love (also why I refuse to watch ELOD too). I also don't think it helps that the voice actor chosen for her just sounds so immature and cutsie (she uses her own voice, I believe in TLB, which helped a lot in my opinion). Fan Zhen is a really new actress and I've only seen her in another drama called Royal Feast - her character in that drama was really annoying. But I really liked her in this drama, I feel like the love story between her and Lin Shu was the main story that I cared about.

I agree! There are a lot of darker dramas that passed censorship (Blood Romance comes too mind). This one unfortunately made a more cotton candy version of the novel. Thanks for the link too!
